Jarrod Ramos has been determined to be legally sane and fit to stand trial. His trial for the murders of Capital Gazette employees in 2018 will begin Nov. 4.

You are correct, I thought it was the name of the paper. my bad.
Too bad this is a data point against the "mental health" hypothesis - upside is he can be held responsible for his actions.

Funny that this was done on the defense budgets dime, and that some of the findings are sealed, and the judge will not let the prosecution have him evaluated, and defense mental health experts say that even though he is mentally stable to stand trial, that he is not responsible for his actions since he has autism.

I see appeals non-ending, calls for mistrial, and motions for re-trial.

I guess the mental health issue is still at large.

Sounds like you hope he will skate on the mental health defense.

Me I think he is fully responsible and should get the book thrown at him, pay his dues to society same as any other @sswipe who goes around shooting people. Way I see it if you have your act together enough to buy and maintain weapons, plan and execute a massacre, you are cognizant enough to be brought to justice.

Unpremeditated, say guy goes postal in a gridlock, or random reaction to psych meds flicks Bic and turns gas pump into flamethrower and torches school bus, now that is different, mental health should be looked at.

Quite the opposite. I would like to see him convicted and possibly face the death penalty.
It's quite obvious that this was done with "malice aforethought".

Yes, he does need to face responsibility for his actions, but, it looks like his lawyers will be working the autism angle to keep him from doing so.

You've been reading too much Vince Flynn.

I was just pointing out that the reality is that this will not end with/if he is found guilty. Constant calls for appeals and re-trials, defense lawyers have been known to claim they didn't give enough and/or proper defense for the client on the tiniest of exclusions or omissions, down to even the improper use of punctuation on court documents.

What did you think i was posting about?

Wasn't thinkng too hard - thought maybe you were working the mental health apologetics angle. Glad to hear your thoughts, I concur.

Never read any Vince Flynn. Any good?

I have been reading his books for over twenty years since my brother gave me "Term Limits" for Christmas.

The movie "American Assassin" is based on one of his books. Decent adaptation, but some parts had to be changed to reflect today's issues.

I also read a lot of Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, Brad Thor, Jeffery Deaver, Stephen Coonts, John Sandeford, and trying to get through some off the wall works of Sir Conan Arthur Doyle.

If your wife reads, try to get her started on books written by Colby Marshall.
