Bill Cosby

This is such a crazy story. It seems as though the allegations are true IMO. I'd be shocked if 5 women, one being Janice Dickenson who also revealed this on the Howard Stern show back in 2006, all decided to make this up. I grew up in the 80s so it's difficult to grasp that he could do this. It disgusts me. And this comes from a guy who criticizes other comics for using profanity and the black community for their standard of living, attire, and lingo. It kind of makes sense though - his need to declare himself morally above everyone else. I guess those rapes were weighing on his mind.

As someone who has been a fan of Bill Cosby since I was a kid (200 MPH, I Spy, Fat Albert ...) - I remind all that every person gets his day in court! This could all pan out to be true, I don't know. It will break my heart to pieces if it is.
I just kinda wonder why so many people would sit on this kind of information for so many years - why some who had even been "settled with" would reemerge.
Yeah, Cosby has appeared kind of high and mighty and self righteous at times. This has made him a target of many in the black community. There are people who would like to see him crushed for various reasons.
Like I said - I hope that he gets his day, that all the proof is put on the table BEFORE he gets condemned.
Again - could be true, but I really hope that it isn't.

I agree that he should have his day in court. However, he was never arrested. He paid "settlements". If he was innocent he should not have ponied up.
No matter how this all shakes out I still have leaves to rake. I don't personally need the distraction. 😉

I highly doubt that will ever happen. They all said it happened in the 80s, so what proof could there be? I also don't understand why victims never say anything but there are plenty of experts who say that their silence makes sense in a lot of ways. I'm afraid this is a he said/she said story, and his reputation is permanently tarnished. There's no getting it back unless there's proof that they are all lying, which is next to impossible. But doesn't the high and mighty attitude suggest an element of guilt....not on its own but coupled with these allegations?

High and mighty doesn't suggest guilt (to me) as much as having paid settlements. I guess it just depends on who you are. Michael Jackson paid settlements and yet many came to his defense and insisted upon his innocence. Anybody can make decades old accusations against anybody. We allow the media to shape our opinions on whether we believe them or not.

Janice Dickinson has the creditibility of a flea. She is a publicity whore and any statement coming out of her has to be taken with a grain of salt. I am not sure what to think here. What are the motives of all of these women coming out now with these accusations? Why didn't any of them report their attack to the police? Time also changes the perspective of the actual events. Is there some smoke behind the accusations? Perhaps but Cosby's legacy is being destroyed without any of these events being substantiated.

Just because it happened in the 80's does not mean he can't be prosecuted. The Catholic Church and Jerry Sandusky cases are prime examples.
He certainly deserves his day in court but it sure does not look good for old Bill.

Now that you bring it up, there was always something I didn't trust about Bill Cosby.

If you watch the video interview in this link with Barbara Bowman, I think it's damn hard NOT to believe her. And she says she DID tell someone, and no one believed her. I think the fact that it's so shocking to those of us who like Cosby may have been what protected him. And the people around him likely protected him.

NBC has dropped the project for his new sitcom.

"Back then, the incident was so horrifying that I had trouble admitting it to myself, let alone to others. But I first told my agent, who did nothing. (Cosby sometimes came to her office to interview people for “The Cosby Show” and other acting jobs.) A girlfriend took me to a lawyer, but he accused me of making the story up. Their dismissive responses crushed any hope I had of getting help; I was convinced no one would listen to me. That feeling of futility is what ultimately kept me from going to the police. I told friends what had happened, and although they sympathized with me, they were just as helpless to do anything about it. I was a teenager from Denver acting in McDonald’s commercials. He was Bill Cosby: consummate American dad Cliff Huxtable and the Jell-O spokesman. Eventually, I had to move on with my life and my career."

Cosby Sweater
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Criminal charges? Statute of limitations has run out.
Civil suit? Can't prove anything did or didn't happen.
Reputation? Destroyed.

Statute of Limiitations has long run out for civil action. Plus it appears he paid settlements to them, probably in exchange for silence so why they are violating that now I don't know.

You don't know why they are violating their pact of silence?? REALLY? It never occurred to you that if they ALL remain silent that Cosby will be assumed innocent? Who knows if he's still not capable of doing this again right now in his 70's?
And as far as the $$$..........I guess you're saying that since they received money in exchange for silence, they had BETTER not reveal a rapist. That's a bit twisted in my book. Cosby got 30 years of silence............and therefore will be beyond prosecution. He got his money's worth, not that he deserves it.

In no manner shape or form do I condone any form of abuse; but if you prostitute yourself by being paid off for your silence you need to keep your silence. Felt that way with Michael Jackson's alleged victims. I have no problem with people coming forward 30 years after an incident; just when they've agreed to be paid off. Granted you could say that someone lacked the courage to fight and has now changed. But a deals a deal - if the acussed decided they were truly innocent and shouldn't have settled they can't get their money back

Last I knew only ONE had been paid via a court settlement.
Those that are talking now WEREN'T ever paid to be quiet.

His silence doesn't help matters. If you are falsely accused of rape, I would imagine you'd be anxious to get in front of the world to declare your innocence, and let them see the honesty in your face.
Just heard Al Michaels on Howard Stern tell the story that he visited OJ in jail several times after his arrest, and OJ never once told him that he didn't do it. He only said that "he couldn't believe the public believes he did it, and he couldn't believe the amount of attention."

If they did not know about the other women, they might have just tried to deal with it themselves. Cosby was very popular, people's first instinct would be to give him the benefit of the doubt and think she was just after money to keep quiet if she did bring allegations.
Now with so many women coming forward, it really is upsetting. If he was doing these things, how safe are women these days?
Successful men are known to have affairs, they feel that they are entitled to have what they want, but raping someone who is unconscious is a totally different thing.
