I don't put comedians in the same category. They are there to make people laugh. Rush, Hannity and Beck are also entertainers, but they aren't trying to make people laugh. They use a dangerous and destructive rhetoric to whip people into a hostile frenzy - wrong wrong wrong on all levels. Michael Moore tries to incite anger - that's why he is different than those comedians.

I would agree on Maher, but, IMO, Colbert is doing more of a satiric comedy thing meant to make us laugh at American political theater. He is knowingly over the top for laughs. I think the others mentioned, including Maher, take themselves way too seriously.
