It is possibly bad news. They are already talking memories of Hugo here in SC. I’m admittedly scared of storms.

I hope Gina doesn't see this thread. Next thing it will be the Chosen Talibans at war saving us from George Soros who started this hurricane with HAARP to create a vacuum of chaos so the Satanists can take over Alabama.

I didn’t get seriously scared of storms until a tornado hit the place I was renting in 09. I can physically feel the tension and stress these days. I’m in the upstate where we were told there wasn’t much to worry about in 89 during Hugo but we found out a different story by morning.

Let’s hope this thing stays offshore.

remnants of Hurricane Gordon are hitting Indiana.
it's been raining for 24+ hours and its gonna get worse in about an 30 mins, and rain harder for 5 hours.
course not that bad until the river/creek behind house rises

Gordon turned out not to be as bad as they'd thought
There's a lot more info about Florence on the weather thread -- people don't understand what Gina posts, so therefore she gets derided, but it's valuable, scientifically based info that proves accurate as often as not -- thank you Gina

I wouldn't put any of those things past the named individuals. I did find it quite interesting when I looked at some of the models yesterday that for prolonged periods of time the storm was estimated to be a 911 millibars. Just a coincidence of course....

I will be on the soapbox as early as possible when the meteorologists who have not been bought or threatened by their networks not to tell people the truth know. (remember we knew 5 days before Katrina that it had a 5 mile wide eye and Ray Nagin did't tell his people till Sunday night before the storm that maybe they should consider evacuating? This storm is slated to be a Cat 4 or 5 whereever it is going on, you cannot stay there and ride it out, you got to go for your own safety and to not end up in a fema camp which could also happen.)

They are making preparations and declaring emergency on the coast already. There is still time for it to turn I hope.

The coastal Carolinas and SE Virginia will be greatly affected with H-Florence coming ashore very late Thursday or early Friday morning. There is a slight northerly turn evident in the trusted EURO Tropical and GFS Tropical models. The variable is that the storm will likely stall and churn late Wednesday.

As of this morning Florence looks like a Cat 3 (111-129 mph) at landfall. The upside is that this hurricane lacks girth.

The people who live in the area that would be most affected know how to prepare for these events and know to get out. The sooner the better is the rule which allows you to choose to go where you want and stay with family, friends or the hotel of your choice.

Otherwise shelters will be available, but you won’t get to choose your roommates or order from the menu.

We secured our house in Duck this weekend and I am just leaving USCG-Oregon Inlet and heading up Route 12 and off the OBX. Traffic right now is tolerable. That will not last long.

Busy times with TS/H Isaac heading directly towards The Caribbean.

Not on the water. We are further back, a lesson learned after having a house 1n Avon for 10 years.

Being safe is the plan and thank you. The people going through the Brew-Thru does give you pause.

I am most concerned for the poorest of the poor, the elderly and the special needs people. Many simply do not have the means to evacuate.

Local churches know these people and where they live, and the local communities do a good job of helping.

Getting the evacuation information and shelter locations out can be difficult.

I am headed to the NOAA/NHC facility at NAS-Oceana for a 6pm meeting. Hopefully the word down-graded occurs. Optimism help the attitude.

😛 Yeah, ask a Puerto Rican.

They're all big fans of the paper towell flinging prez.

https://www.cnn.com/2017/10/03/politics/donald-trump-paper-towels-puerto-rico/index.html

Today Trump touted his major success in Puerto Rico. He is truly a piece of work.

From Slate:

"Trump Brags About Response to Puerto Rico Hurricane That May Have Killed Nearly 3,000 People"

😛 Yeah, ask a Puerto Rican.

Yes, do ask the Puerto Rican people why:

- Their Island’s power grid failed
o PR’s power grid did not fail due to the hurricane. It had been failing for many years
- Their government did not resolve the trucker’s strike
o The relief supplies could not be delivered because they could not be secured
o Those same supplies could not be delivered because their truck drivers refused to work, and PR’s government would not detail National Guardsmen to drive the trucks.
- The relief supplies could not be delivered until the storm passed. Once the supplies were on the docks they sat there for weeks and then they were stolen by the local politicians and residents.
- Their government failed to submit their Response Plan as required by law
o Why had PR’s government not come into compliance with the National Response Framework year after year
- Why did PR’s emergency management representatives not show up for the National Hurricane Conference in 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015?
o Reason: They replied that they would if someone else paid for their transportation, accommodations, meals and incidentals.
o In 2014 Obama gave them the funding to attend the NHC. Their representatives did arrive in New Orleans but never showed up at the conference.

Puerto Rico’s politicians wanted the American Tax Payers to build them a new power grid.

President Trump, through DHS, did offer the relief funding PR requested but due to PR’s history of corruption, required an independent accountability audit. Once PR received the reply with the accountability requirement they were never heard from again except when their politicians went running to the TV cameras to complain.

Two Puerto Rican politicians and two mayors were arrested this year for corruption.

Puerto Rico’s problems are self-inflicted. Their incompetence and corruption are their problem.

Disaster mitigation, response and relief are a States (territory) responsibility. The Federal Government’s responsibility is to support the State which is exactly what President Trump’s administration did very well.

Do ask the Puerto Rican people why they continue to elect Democrat-Socialists that have failed them year after year after year.

Coastal areas are beginning to shut down their electric grids and water systems.

It is past time to be somewhere else.

Hmmm, why do Americans keep electing Republicans who fail them year after year? The red states remain the poorest in the country. We just had two Republican congressmen arrested for corruption this month. Trump's response to Puerto Rico is one of his greatest failures and he is lucky that the US media failed to report the extent of it. That is Trump's brilliance. He says something stupid and the media report that instead of reporting on his constant failures. He is truly the master distractor.
