Anyone not traveling or going places due to Coronavirus

I do not have fear for myself, I am somewhat confident that if I contracted it I would recover and if I don't, something is going to get you eventually.
But in the event I did get it, I do worry a little about potentially spreading it to others unknowningly (like before I realized I had it).
So is anyone changing plans...concerts, sporting events, travel work or pleasure because of this?

Not really. Still going to see Kiss tomorrow. No concerns at all. Buying tickets for a baseball game for next month. A couple handful of cases in a metropolitan area of several million doesn't worry me at all. Maybe I'll start avoiding crowds when 1% of the population is affected.
The only thing that I am holding off on is that I am planning a 2 week Asia trip for next Christmas. I will probably wait to buy my flights longer than I normally would, mostly because I'm more concerned about flight schedule changes and cancellations than anything else. Usually for holiday travel I buy my tickets early. One of my stops is Laos, which doesn't exactly have a ton of flights going in and out as it is, so a cancellation would really mess me up. Plus some airlines may end up folding because of this.

@2112 any vaccines you would recommend for SE Asia? Hep B? Any gut ailment innoculations that are helpful?
Always a good idea to check here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel
I have all of my basic vaccinations, but I still check to make sure there aren't any cholera outbreaks where I'm going. I've never gotten a cholera vaccination, but I would if their was an outbreak. I also check specific malaria maps for where I'm going. For example, I was in Siem Reap, Cambodia for New Years. Angkor Wat had no malaria risk and Siem Reap city had low malaria risk. The mountains, which I did not visit, were high risk. Given my plans, I did not take malaria pills. Had their been a higher risk, I would have. My biggest concern is Dengue Fever, because there is no vaccine or pills. But I always check to see the risk so I know for my own information.
As for gut ailment, I used to be super paranoid about it. Nowadays, I've become less concerned as only twice have I gotten any major stomach issues traveling. I still try to make sure to avoid dirty looking places and avoid anything with mayo in it. I try to make sure food is hot. For the most part I avoid uncooked vegetables and salads unless I'm certain that they were washed in purified water. I was recently in Vietnam and that became harder than it usually is as they use a lot of fresh, raw vegetables. I took a greater chance there than I usually do and had no issues. I also avoid ice that isn't obviously commercially made.

Coming back to the states from Australia tomorrow and then heading back down on april 1st.
My 83 year old mom is going on a cruise to Egypt and Israel in mid april.
My 25 year old nephew is in south Korea right now. Teaching job., he's had it for years, married a Korean girl last year.

Minimize all human social contact. Don't touch anything that's been touched by anyone else - including money! Wash your hands and DO NOT touch your face (get someone else to do this for you). Ah, hell! Just pack yourself into a large cardboard box for 6 - 8 weeks until this thing is over! 😉

Planning a trip to Viet Nam, not thinking twice about it. Traveled to Taiwan during SARS, might have caught it, I got an asskicker cough there, went off into the mountains so I could hack in peace without freaking out my relatives there - they might have hospitalized me then I would have been done for. Finally got the damn thing out. Got over it.

Curious if you are an opportunistic traveler, scoring dirt cheap airfare to travel over there in times of scary stuff happening in the world, brought to you buy the MSM.

A virus doesn't respect borders any more than the weather does. These are things that you can not be for or against - they are simply a fact of life. And international problems are going to require international solutions.
This just shows the absurd limits of nationalism

As a mater of fact, he's traveling on highly successful Trump airlines and drinking Trump wine while dining on a big red Trump MAGA steak while watching the only TV station on the plane - state run TV FOX.

Funny how the only one of those still in business is the one not owned by Trump.

SXSW just cancelled for the 1st time in 34 years.

Maybe this is highly overblown. Don't listen to the world, facts, and the numbers. Listen to Trump and his hunches.

The "Idiot in chief". He still has a mob of morons cheering his every move.
I v'e given up, you can't negotiate with bigots.

Some good friends of mine, an older couple, had a cruise planned to Asia. They canceled that back in late January/early February. They were going to swap it for a New Zealand cruise, but the cruise company was charging $7500 more for that upon changing (they said the New Zealand cruise had been advertised at the same price last year). So they negotiated something with the cruise ship company to go to Greece and Italy. I haven't talked to them in almost a month so I don't know what their plans are now. When the cruise ship company was jerking them around my friend (in his mid 70s) told them "we're old, we get this thing we die...you want us to die on your ship?". He's a funny guy. Hates the hell out of Trump. I'm actually not looking forward to our next conversation, think he'll be ripping Trump so much might be unhealthy for his blood pressure.

Well, good ol' CNN just announced that "people over 60 should stay in their homes ...". My wife (who fears the falling sky) has bought into this - hook, line and sinker. Looks like we'll be hiding in a cardboard box - pushed far under our bed until the powers that be declare the atmosphere safe again. I just hope I can get wifi.

So, a virus doesn't work like DNA? Wife's a big fan of those genealogical, family tree sites - who differentiate (somehow) between English and Scottish DNA. I'm baffled.

Yes, skipped an event yesterday, large crowd in an auditorium. More out of getting exposed and then unknowingly passing it on to a very elderly family member that we have regular contact with. 95 years old, the virus would likely be a death sentence. The event was just not worth whatever risk there might have been. No regrets.
"Is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?"

We could save so much money if we replaced our scientists and engineers with people who have a hunch instead. What do we need professionals for when you've got a guy who has a hunch that the bridge design is good enough? I can't believe people voted for that guy.

There were so many bizarre statements from Trump at the CDC, it's painful to watch. Although he admitted he didn't know people died from flu (his grandfather being one of them), he considers himself to have a genetic predisposition to be "good at science" because he had a "great supergenius uncle" who taught at MIT.
“I like this stuff. I really get it. People are surprised that I understand it."
"Every one of these doctors (during his CDC tour) said, ‘How do you know so much about this?’" His response? "Maybe I have a natural ability. Maybe I should have done that instead of running for president.”
So many takeaways there. He seems proud that people act surprised if he knows something (even if he doesn't). He thinks scientific ability is inherited (belying both the facts that it's not & that knowledge comes from education & training). He should've been a scientist instead of POTUS. All of this from a man who has rejected every scientific fact presented to him during his administration.
His uncle actually was an honored electrical engineer & physicist w/a PhD who worked on early radiation for cancer research/treatment & purifying water. Rather sad that his career & reputation are being dragged out by his vapid nephew to support "hunches."

I won't be going to meetings in Milan next week as that region is locked down.

I was supposed to go to London on business Weds (booked the flight for day after the MSG show, of course), but the London Book Fair was cancelled, so I am staying in NYC

I cancelled a trip into Boston. Plenty of chest-thumping and hot air about not being scared. Its not a test of manhood, we all have to do our part to not become carriers and spreaders to not become like Italy, where the old are basically on their own if they are infected. No resources to waste on an 80 year old. Tough decisions.
We need to slow the progression enough to not overwhelm our medical system and buy time towards getting a vaccine.

Speculation of 75 to 100 million cases in the US according to a Congressional doctor. Germany is expecting 60-70% of it's population to become infected.
I do not think I am downplaying or showing any lack of understanding to the seriousness of this virus, but 3 months or longer into this, nobody has had that kind of explosion in their populations. There are "only" 127,863 cases globally with 68,310 recoveries and 4,718 deaths. So we are going to go from an 8th of a million cases to....over 100 million?
The US and other European countries are behind the curve in dealing with the outbreak, I get that, still predictions like this are quite alarming...almost like, sometimes we don't take things seriously enough so they have to shock us with outrageous figures - perhaps purposefully exaggerating to get people to pay attention? I'm all for preventative measures and even closing and cancellations. I just don't understand the math behind making predictions like that.

almost like, sometimes we don't take things seriously enough
Especially when we have a boy king for president who is more concerned about how the number of infected citizens will affect his reelection chances instead of crafting a plan to combat coronavirus.
Or as the boy king puts it "CoronaVirus."
Freakin' idiot.

My friend is undergoing radiation treatments at a satellite hospital location. Today they said everyone from the satellite locations will have to go to the main hospital in Cleveland. The doctor said this is if employees have to call off there will be more staff available if everyone is working out of one location. A lot of schedule changes for both patients and workers.
