mostly sobered up now so here's my take

lots of glossy talk, some contradictory to things he said in last few days. most of the speech seemed to be meant to back his own party into a box and sets up blame to be placed on congress and liberals in general. nothing new there i guess. but his pie in the sky talk and no responsibility for how it gets done, congress is in a world of hurt.

While faith in Trump lifting regulations in the market has contributed to the DOW rising, it is a little more complicated than anything that either Obama or Trump can take complete credit for. Regulation isn't bad by nature, it is intended to keep us from completely bottoming out - the star that burns the brightest burns the fastest.

While Trump managed coherent sentences last night, it was still a lot of the same jingoist nonsense that we have gotten used to hearing from him. Lots of generalizing and taking credit. I found the finger shaking at the Democrats to be pretty petty considering the last 8 years. Trump has an agenda, but just as Hillary would have had to address Trump's supporters' needs and concerns, it would go a long way if Trump attempted to reach across the aisle (though it's easier for him not to since Republicans control the House and Senate). He's still a bull in a China shop.

But I think you know the answer to your question. It was about the message, not the messenger, and it needed to come from a veteran head of state and not Corey Booker or Al Franken, which probably would have distracted.

But again, I know the news you are used to watching concentrates on the presentation, but it's important to hear what people actually say.

Don't we all make judgements and form opinion about how other forum members feel about a certain topic based on what they post? So isn't it reasonable for one member here to form an opinion how you feel about the President based reading any posts you've made related to the topic? To say that somebody has "no idea" how you feel implies that either you have never posted commentary on the President before, the other member in question has never read any of your posts, or an incorrect conclusion has been reached. If you feel you are being mischaracterized why not clarify or correct?
