If you could be a true virtuoso, like for real one of the best ever, would you rather be a virtuoso vocalist or virtuoso with your favorite (non-voice) instrument? (Assuming you could still hold your own at the other. You’re still a musician, but can only crush it on one.)

My dream would be to play The Messiah Will Come Again on electric guitar just like Gary Moore, then the band shifts into a shuffle and I jump behind a set of drums and seque into the drum solo on West Side Story and play it just like Buddy Rich. Then with no other musicians play a 10 minute passage from Chopin just like Liberace. But that is a dream.
In the real world maybe I would pick singing the blues like Gregg Allman and if allowed to sing and play, play guitar like Duane while singing like Gregg.

Well, over the years I have been tempted to share something here, but I have been hesitant, this thread let's me share, I actually possess a virtuoso quality singing voice!!! Only 12 -15 People have been been blessed to witness my virtuosity, when I open my mouth to sing, it's often in the voice of Gregg Allman!!! Sometimes though it's the voice of Bob Dylan, others times Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf!!! My incredible voice can mimick all the Great, Great Voices I love so much. Sadly, I have noticed that No one else seems to possess the Finely tuned hearing and special ears I have, they don't hear it!!!! Most seem horrified???.....Oh Well.....Much Peace......joe

I would take being able to play anything like Gary.
I like the moving around on the instruments part. I remember seeing something once where Sammy Davis Jr. went around and played a few instruments. And played them all well.
For me - I definitely take playing guitar over singing. You can playing guitar for 24 hours if you want. Can't do that singing. Will get many more hours of enjoyment while on this earth.
