Been a long time since I gave a "Whipping Post" a proper thumbs up - last night - SMOKE!

....Derek takes the first solo.....awesome...then during Derek's solo at the 3:20 mark, Warren turns to look at Marc and through eye contact and sped-up rhythm guitar, he turns up the tempo HEAT!

Then, when it is Warren's turn to solo - he starts off MELODIC..and then watch him close...he goes off and loses it in the best musical way possible and RIPS! I just interviewed Warren and I asked him about his thoughts on Neil Young's wacky electric lead guitar style and Warren described it as, "Being unique, establishing your own voice, having a sense of melody, having a sense of phrasing and being able to lose yourself in the moment, all of those things make up the potential of a great guitar solo or a great guitar soloist." In this solo, Warren loses himself in the moment. Awesome!

Great post. I was there and made my way up front for Whipping Post. Warren seemed unhinged to me. Never seen him outwardly go ballistic like that. Neil Young spaz outs is a good comparision.

It was f'n fantastic. Last night was the show I was waiting to see since 3/26/09. Totally satisfied if that was my last ABB show. I can't really add more to what others have posted about it They had a really heavy sound and Greg was on point and sounded strong the for the majority of the night.
I really savored the moments. Had my last walk up to the show. Met some great people from Austin and New Orleans at Dive 75 before the show. Saw them afterwards and they were blown away. I don't think the beacon magic everyone talks about is present at every show but last night it was front and center ! I'm at peace with folding up the tent. I thought it was over after 2012 and this past March. Glad they're going out hittin the note !!!
