Jerry Garcia was afraid to ride the helicopter thru the enormous crowd over to the stage area so he had someone drive him.

What was it? 7 hours to get to the stage barely moving thru the sea of people?

I can't remember the amount of time but it was awhile.

Ultimate Classic Rock has a link to stream the band's entire performance.  Just scroll down in the article to see the music link.

@dzobo I see Chuck Leavell's hat he wore so often during the Brothers and Sisters period. See the late great Lamar Williams too.

Just wondering has anyone listened to the actual show as is available on the Ultimate Classic Rock site?  Some technical glitches, especially early in the show, but amazing Ramblin' Man followed by Jessica in the second half.  Dickey Betts at his best!

@dzobo I use to have a bootleg album of much of the Allman's set and I remember the technical glitches. I think there was 5 minutes or so Chuck Leavell played patriotic music on his piano while Dickey waited for his amp to be fixed.

Anyway I think the label was Midnight Owl Records and at a Great Southern show, I was going to get Dickey to sign the album but Dickey wanted it. So I gave it to Dickey.

Dickey noticed Jessica was listed on the back of the album as Jessica's Song and he said "Jessica's Song?"

Then Dickey said " I thought the law suites were behind me but I guess not".

I have no idea if Dickey sued the people who put out that bootleg.

Butch Trucks became very negative about the Brothers and Sisters period. If Butch had it to do over he would have pressed for Dickey to be replaced just after Duane died and there wouldn't have been a Brothers and Sisters or at least Ramblin' Man and Jessica recorded by the Allman Brothers which Butch felt pushed the band off track from the style of band they had worked to become while Duane was living.

Personally I don't agree. I think Brothers and Sisters is a fantastic album with excellent songs. All great songs and extremely well played and Dickey was more responsible for its success and it selling 7 million copies than probably anyone in the band.

Butch only said that decades later. By all accounts, he was happy and was among those in the band that pushed for Dickey to include "Ramblin' Man" and against Gregg's jazzy "Queen of Hearts". No one in the band was complaining about all of the money they made in 1973 and Butch didn't gripe about country-ish songs in the setlist until Dickey added Bill Joe Shaver's "Georgia on a Fast Train" in the late 1990s.

Wow! This has the potential to be great. I wonder what "highlight and feature music" means, as In will there be a lot of actual concert footage? It has certainly been a long time coming. In the teaser the only guy who played in it mentioned was Jaimoe. Curious if there will be thoughts from some of the other band members.

Looking forward to it.

@porkchopbob Well you are correct I suppose. I didn't notice Butch going negative on Ramblin' Man and Brothers and Sisters until the early 2000's. On his blog in the 1990's Butch went negative on Dickey because he felt Dickey ran Warren and Woody out of the band and Dickey refusing to give Butch a writing credit on In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. In 1991 a compilation album of tracks off the Capricorn albums was released titled "1969-1969 A Decade Of Hits" which sold over two MILLION copies. Because of how the Capricorn catalog was settled after Phil Walden's bankruptcy, the Allman Brothers Band GOT NOTHING from record sales from those albums or the tracks from those albums. Only song writers got a royalty.

Butch brought it up a couple of times in his blog. He was very angry that Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts made over a million dollars each of that compilation release and Butch GOT NOTHING!!! And Butch felt Dickey was a reason he got nothing. Butch said moving forward, he was going to find ways for Butch to make money other than touring off the band as Gregg and Dickey do but it would be ways other than song writing as he didn't really have that gift.

In the early 2000's was when I read Butch saying he was embarrassed of all these modern country bands with Allman Brothers licks and it is completely Dickey's fault and it started with Brothers and Sisters and Ramblin' Man in particular.

Butch said if he and Gregg had it to do over, they would have FIRED Dickey Betts after Duane Allman and Berry Oakley died and started over with two new guitar players and the band would have stayed with the style they had when Duane was alive. Butch also said Brothers and Sisters would have never come out if he had it to do over and the Allman Brothers Band would have NEVER recorded Ramblin' Man. Then Butch added: Ramblin' Man will NEVER be played in this band again. And as soon as we write some new instrumentals, ALL of Dickey's songs will be dropped.

And indeed there were a good number on shows without any songs written by Dickey. But by about 2006 more and more Dickey songs were finding their way back into the sets except they never played Ramblin' Man.

Dickey was asked about it and said he didn't see how in hell they could justify doing that and even playing Blue Sky and Warren singing it after throwing him out of the band. Dickey said it would be like him doing Melissa and Midnight Rider in Great Southern.

It was a dark period for the band and personally I was always a little uncomfortable with the Allman Brothers Band without Dickey. The two drummers and Gregg with replacement players filling out the other positions is the Allman Brothers? I guess so.

Warren said he was never comfortable with it either and he or Derek would step aside if they were standing in the way of Dickey returning. But Warren said unfortunately at this time Butch and Gregg would leave if Dickey returned.

Dickey got the last laugh though. Dickey Betts is worth more money than Gregg, Butch, Jaimoe, Warren and Derek put together. Or close to it.

Gregg $15 million.

Butch ZERO!!

Jaimoe $2 million.

Warren $12 million

Derek $ 10 million

That is $39 million if these numbers are accurate.

Dickey Betts $40 million!!!!

And it's easy to top Dickey outside the ABB.

Joe Walsh $80 million.

Eric Clapton $500 million.

Keith Richards $550 million.

And get this!! Right now the artist making the most money BY FAR touring is ...Taylor Swift!!

She is closing in on being a BILLIONAIRE!!

Supposedly Paul McCartney is the only billionaire singer/musician.
