I am expecting Warren Haynes to announce that proceeds from this year's XMAS Jam will go to benefit the citizens of Asheville because the town of approximately 90,000 has been completely devastated by Hurricane Helene. I read that 1/3 of the 120 deaths due to Helene occurred in Buncombe County where Asheville is located. And according to this article, real estate agents had been telling clients that Asheville was a safe haven from hurricanes because of it's distance from the coast. OUCH. I hope the poor residents of Asheville are getting the supplies and financial assistance they need to rebuild their lives because the entire town is basically underwater.
I think Warren would do a special benefit show for this cause.
A week later & still a nightmarish scene down there - flooded in wastewater as rescue turns to recovery amid bodies/stench - current update does not paint a pretty picture - many still listed as missing - they’re saying they may never be able to determine the exact # of deaths
…usually things improve as floodwaters recede - not in this case tho - it’s horrendous, & now, another hurricane en route (in Fla)
