Garden and Gun is my second favorite magazine. Great music, travel, and food features. Really good shorts on what to do in a bunch of Southern Cities.

Hat tip to Jerry for linking to it a few months ago. I'm glad to have started reading the online version.

Thanks for posting this, I listened to the entire record a few nights back and was extremely knocked out by it! Is there ANY genre that Warren cannot do and do well? I have yet to find one.

I thought the same thing at first. I found that if you just start playing the 3 tunes and just let it play without hitting return or any other key on your keyboard, the entire record will play! My computer screen went blank but as long as I didn't touch anything it played the entire record.

Gave the 2LP a few spins in the last couple of days as well as the free MP3 download and i really like Ashes & Dust a lot. Only thing i kinda miss are a few uptempo songs that would have worked very well with the violin and mandolin sound / direction of this release. I hope i can catch Warren live with Railroad Earth or the Ashes & Dust Band when he comes over to Europe. Love Warren's diversity. Really a Man In Motion.

Has anyone who ordered this through Warren's/Music Today's website received notification that it has shipped?

My email states it would ship on or around 7/21, but it is still showing as "processing" on their website. I was just curious if anyone else had received notification or had received the CD.

Music Today already rips people off on their shipping prices as it is, at the very least they should get it out the door on time for that price.

Waiting patiently for my Ashes and Dust bundle in the mail! I knew this would be great because I went to the show Warren played with Railroad Earth to re open the Capital Theatre a couple of years ago and they were awesome. Warren told me after a Mule show a few weeks later that they had only had one hour of rehearsal before the show. You would have thought they were a veteran band of 20 years. I have purposely stayed away from listening to this and have only heard the song Phil wrote that Warren penned the lyrics for. I want to hear the whole record fresh out of the package when I get it. I will be seeing him with Railroad Earth at GOTVibes and with the new band in October at the Space in Westbury. Can't wait!!! Grin

I was at that Capitol show and also was at Town Hall last night where they played the entire album. I was surprised by the amount of slide guitar Warren plays on these songs. There were some very jazzy trippy jams but obviously it's a much more mellow experience than we are used to from him outside of his acoustic shows.

I think I skipped the disc and went for the download to avoid the shipping price.

The download manager appears to be a big pile of steaming crap. I'm listening on Rhapsody but want what those nit wits promised.

Got an email from Music Today.

Thank you for pre-ordering the Deluxe CD of Warren Hayne's Ashes & Dust. Due to a shipping delay from the CD manufacturer, there has been a slight hold up in getting your order shipped. We now expect it to ship on or around July 28.

They did offer a free download for my inconvenience.

The deluxe version has a second disc of demos.

If you ordered it from Music Today/Warren's site you also get a 3rd disc (or download) of songs as well.

Congratulations to Warren Haynes and Railroad Earth

Ashes and Dust hit # 6 on the Billboard Rock Album Music Chart

http://www.billboard.com/charts/rock-albums

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I loved listening to Ashes and Dust as a whole cd. I played it three or four times in a row, after seeing the music live a few times, and think Ashes and Dust rocks. Railroad Earth is my new favorite band. They elevated the music to a higher level, especially live. Warren's production and songwriting are top of the line. Coal Tattoo and Beat Down the Dust, along with Blue Maiden's Tale and Is It Me Or You (which should be on airwaves around the country), are my top four tunes. I also dig Company Man, Wanderlust and Spots of Time. Still, every song has musical integrity and interest, especially the uptempo Stranded in Self-Pity, which is a favorite of mine live. Overall it's a beautiful set of songwriting by Warren and a few of his friends. The disc could easily garner mainstream attention in both the rock and country scenes.
If you haven't gotten the cd yet make an effort to purchase or download it over the next week or two. Or you can listen to it on Spotify.
