WANEE BLOCK PARTY 2020 Lineup

Not as big of a sell as last year's Wanee Block Party with the Dickinson Bros and Makrus King. It's not Wanee, but it's better than nothing I suppose, I might go see Jaimoe at least.

This is an awful lineup. Only reason to go is to see Jaimoe and don’t know if this justifies the price. The Allman Betts Band requires a separate admission.
Jason Bonham? Seriously?

I've read that Jason Bonham has a place in West Delray, which is the only reason I can imagine he was included. Definitely shouldn't be headlining - why wouldn't they get Allman Betts to headline? Last year wasn't great, but this ain't great - 2 Dead Tribute bands that already play south Florida?

Looks like VIP is $175, and GA is $40, plus $20 a piece to both the pre- and post-shows (so basically $80 for the weekend, before fees). Last year, the venue itself was the weak link, so I'm surprised they couldn't improve and build on last year's lineup. I'll probably skip this.

Regarding Jason Bonham, it is an interesting inclusion for an event like this. I saw him last year open for Frampton, who I love. First time seeing Jason. They simply blew me away. That band is so good. I typically do not like cover bands and that is what they are. When I saw them Zeppelin wasn't in their title. It was just The Jason Bonham Band. Well, their entire set was just Zeppelin songs, totally. They blew me away. If you like Zeppelin, they are probably worth the price of admission alone.
For the rest of the lineup, there are some good ones. Jaimoe, Allman Betts? Of course. I detest Blues Travelor so that is the only clunker to me. I've always wanted to see Bobby Lee Rodgers so I think that would be fun. Seems like is is always on the bill at festivals. I have a DVD somewhere of a festival that Bob Weir headlined and Bobby Lee is on it and I was very impressed. If you've never seen The Lee Boys, you need to check them out. They are very fun. They remind me of Robert Randolph. And the guys in the band are all really nice if you get a chance to meet them.
I agree about the Florida connection. Maybe it is a matter of cost. Get more centrally located bands.
Overall, I would definitely go if I live in the area.

I want to want to go, don't get me wrong. Just not my jam. Last year the fest featured Markus King and the Dickinson Brothers, which was a cool mix. Jaimoe's band and the Dickinsons shared the stage for a fun jam. But a Zep Tribute and Blues Traveler just aren't a draw for me. I've seen Bobby Lee Rodgers all over several Wanee Fests, and the Lee Boys (who I actually prefer to Robert Randolph) were at last year's block party. A few fine acts, I'm sure others will enjoy, but there isn't anything that puts this over the top to get me to downtown Ft Lauderdale.

Want to want to is funny. I've been there more than once. When I saw The Lee Boys I told them the same thing, that I thought they were every bit as good as Robert Randolph. They laughed at me but I was being serious.

Noticed it’s Jaimoe & Friends, not Jaimoe’s Jaszz Band this time - wonder who he’ll have w/him - hopefully Junior Mack, love his work on Renaissance Man

I noticed that too, makes me think it will be more than just Jaimoe's band. Jaimoe is usually enough of a draw alone for me, but he had back surgery and was a last minute scratch from some shows here with Scott Sharrard and Marc in December. Hopefully he's recovering, but also makes me hesitant.

Feel free to not believe me, but Pink Talking Fish are really, really good.Their new guitar player, Cal Kehoe, is the truth. They were fun before they got him a year or so ago, now they are really strong. It helps if you like the source songs, but if you don’t, the jams are still worth a look.
