UFO sad news Paul Raymond passed away

Hi to all the fans and people who knew Paul! This is Sandra, Paul's life partner speaking: With a desperate and broken heart, fully in tears and pains that feel like they will kill me I have to tell you that my most beautiful and beloved darling Paul Raymond has passed away today. The doctors we're trying to reanimate him and with success at first but then his system shot down again and there was nothing more they could do for him, he died of a heart attack.
He absolutely enjoyed the last couple of weeks touring with UFO in the UK & Ireland and he was looking forward to the rest of this year's tour.
This photo was taken last Wednesday when we checked out of our last hotel before coming back to Germany!
I will always love him and I hope he will rest in piece until I'll see him again on the other side!!!
I love you so much Paul 💔😪 Sandra

Just read about this tragic news.Words cannot describe how gutted I am, got to see UFO only a few weeks ago. They were/are one of my favourite bands of all time.

RIP Paul

UFO guitarist/keyboard player Paul Raymond has died after suffering a heart attack. He was 73 years old.
The news of Raymond's passing was broken by his "life partner," Sandra, who wrote on Facebook: "With a desperate and broken heart, fully in tears and pains that feel like they will kill me, I have to tell you that my most beautiful and beloved darling Paul Raymond has passed away today. Paul's professional career began in January 1964. He started out as a jazz musician but went on to become best known as a member of legendary British rock band UFO's classic lineup alongside Phil Mogg, Michael Schenker, Andy Parker and Pete Way. Raymond is also featured on classic records by CHICKEN SHACK and SAVOY BROWN as well as solo albums, plus those credited to PAUL RAYMOND PROJECT.
Raymond was recruited by UFO in 1976 to replace the band's first keyboardist, Danny Peyronel. When Michael Schenker left UFO, Raymond joined Schenker's MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP and later hooked up with Pete Way in WAYSTED.
Raymond appeared on more than a dozen of UFO's albums, including "Lights Out" and the live classic "Strangers In The Night".
Way posted on Facebook: "I've just heard the sad news of Paul Raymond's passing. I won't pretend that we were always the best of friends but I am completely shattered to hear this.
"My sincere condolences go out to his family, particularly Sandra.
"I'm gonna miss you mate! Sleep tight."

Oh no...this is crushing . I have been a fan of his for years. This is a gut punch. I have always loved his work with UFO ad MSG. I don't use Facebook all that much but I have reached out to him a few times over the years and he always responded promptly and kindly. UFO are on there 50th anniversary farewell tour now.
Hopefully Kenny,Olddirtroad, was there to welcome him home.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Always sad when I read about another of the musicians from my youth passes on.
As much as I like UFO, I really enjoyed Paul's musical contributions during his time in Savoy Brown. He played amazing keyboards and guitar on some of their best albums in the early '70s. I think his contributions to that band's music gets overlooked by his days in UFO. RIP

Some tributes to Paul
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Yes Paul was a very gifted musician and they say a very nice man. RIP

The definitive versions of virtually all classic 1970s UFO songs are the ones Paul played on. He completed their sound and played on one of the greatest live albums of all time. I'm so glad he had a long second run with UFO over the last couple decades, too.
I have contemplated traveling to see UFO on this last tour as they haven't played Atlanta since opening for Ozzy in 1982 (sans Paul). Bummed I won't ever get to see him live. RIP Paul.

Paul RaymondIf you were one of the many people who saw the band on their recent U.K. tour, then like me, I’m sure that you were totally shocked and stunned at the news of Paul’s untimely death. I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that I will never again share a stage with him. I have known Paul for a good many years and it would be fair to say that over that time we have had our differences. But even if we didn’t see eye to eye, we still remained good friends. He was always one to make his opinions known and could be very stubborn at times, but that was only because he was so passionate about his craft. Even in recent years, while suffering from the ailments that come to us all with age, he never let them compromise his performance.
Invariably the last one down for the bus or cab to the gig, he would always look the rock star when he finally showed. I often joked with my other band mates “If I had all the time I have spent waiting for Paul, I could add ten years on my life.” Truth is, knowing what I know now, I would gladly have given them back to him.
I will miss his acid wit and his wicked sense of humour, which we shared on many occasions, his love of Hancock, the Goons, and Jazz, but most of all I think I will miss his professionalism and dedication to his art, and knowing that every night when he stepped out on that stage he gave one hundred and ten percent. Rest in peace my friend, you have earned it.
