Playing a lot of Gregg today. Hard to believe its been 2 years since he passed. Thankfully he shared his music with us all. What a gift it is.

Was just playing some Allmans myself in his memory. It is hard to believe.

Wow. One of those “can’t just be coincidence moments”:

I have Southern Blood and love it, but had only listened two times because it’s too haunting. Those songs are just too much about mortality for a guy who knew he was on the downswing.

Last night I was spinning records, and for whatever reason decided to play that one as the last one of the night. Just happened to be after midnight — so it was today.

I had no recollection that today was the day he passed. Must’ve been some knowledge inside of me that decided to spin it for the first time in nearly two years.

Good news is, great music needs to be heard, not sat on a shelf, so I’m listening to it again right now.

Rest peacefully, sir.

For anyone who has a Wolfgang's Music ( used to be Vault ) app, they just posted a Gregg show from 5/25/87 Austin, TX.

It's only an hour long set but very good quality.

Interestingly, it's copyrighted to Bill Graham Archives and Affiliates

That dude, behind a microphone holding an acoustic guitar, was sick. Just listened to come and go blues from the flo and Eddie show, the guy was so good. Man, unreal. Listened to midnight rider too. Gets me every time.

Thanks Gregg. RIP brother.
