TTB Wheels of Soul 2017

Just got back from night 3. SPAC in Saratoga NY. What a tribute at the end. Encore was Ain't Wastin' Time No More>Will The Circle Be Unbroken>Made Up Mind. Powerful stuff. The road does indeed go on forever...

I was there myself and TTB just gets better and better. Hot Tuna was very impressive, as it was my first time seeing those guys. Very fun night as the crowd was great and a lot of Allman Brothers band T-shirts were being worn.

Nice. Any sit ins?

There were no sit ins. They did Ball and Chain off of Revelator which Susan introduced as being cowritten by Oliver Wood, but Wood did not take the stage. I'm sure as the tour progresses there will be plenty of sit ins. Surprised it did not happen on this song. Susan was playing a Les Paul as well as her Strat. Don't remember seeing her play a LP before.

Great show
I could have listened to Hot Tuna for longer
Never heard the Wood Bros before, liked them
TTB started off hot with Anyday and took off from there. Kofi was missed (he's home, recovering) but Carey Frank did a nice job filling in
Agree that the encore was amazing. I started to tear up a little when Derek segued from Ain't Waistin' Time to Will the Circle
I don't remember Susan playing a LP either.
Hey jsdonnan - did we meet once at a TTB - BC show in Boston?

Stormyrider: yes we did meet. That was me.

Looking forward to seeing them again in November at the Fox in Oakland. Was lucky to be at the show last year that is the new live CD.
In a Maron interview Derek said one of his favorite listens is Ali Akbar Khan Signature Series Vol. 2. Wondering if anyone else heard that and is familiar with the CD Derek mentioned?

I bought this from iTunes after hearing that interview and haven't heard it all yet. There are 2-3 tracks and each are like 20 min. long
For me, it's not something I would play to specifically listen to but rather have on in the background and occasionally delight to.....

How is Kofi's replacement fitting in?

Was at SPAC too. What a show! Haven't been to an outdoor show in 20 plus years. I'm a Big Hot Fucking Tuna fan, set was good, but Wood Bros was a pleasant surprise. Saw Derek early on with his "new age band", then with Clapton as a guest player along with Doyle Bramhall, then with Warren and ABB, now in TTB. Rolling Stone mag better re-adjust their "top 100 Guitarist Of All Time" list...pretty soon! I agree with Stormy rider that Carey Frank did a nice job, Derek asked him to tear it up a couple times and he did, nicely. Kofi has been with Derek since DTB first started...GET WELL SOON KOFI! As far as Susan goes ( don't tell Derek this but...), she tore up a couple solos on the Les Paul...thats pretty freaking HOT! LOL. The trip to SPAC was a success. The old college buddy of mine I turned onto to Gov't Mule and now TTB(at SPAC with me) bought tickets to one of the Beacon shows coming up, the night we got back from SPAC. So now looking forward to some Freak'n At The Beacon!!

VT Champlain Valley Expo show - anyone know what happened at that show? I heard they played 8 songs.

thanks for the link
re VT - a friend was camping in VT that weekend, a little south of Burlington and mentioned some storms - that could have been it.

I arrived early enough for the Wolf Trap show to catch the sound check. I was excited hearing the check version of "The Storm" > "Whipping Post." The performance of the two was just incredible. As was the "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and "A Song For You."
Carey is doing great in my opinion but Kofi was indeed missed.
How can I keep saying this band just gets better?
Yet they do. Just incredible musicianship and chemistry.

Just a few days until the TTB hits CT! Can't wait!

Nice review of the SPAC show.

Here it is, boys and girls, and it is indeed wonderful;

Thanks for the link to the set list tbomike!!!!!

Loved the 7/7 Providence show! Electric Jorma is the way I like it and Jack was superb. Except for the Bass player dancing I did not care for the Woods brothers at all. They were much louder than the other 2 bands to the point of being harmful.
I felt it was really Susan's night. Of course Derek took me to an enchanted place . I have always enjoyed Susan's singing but to me her voice keeps getting even better. Her playing was great and when she sings and plays Pity the Fool I am so impressed!! Beautiful venue as well.

Hi,
I'm new to the link that tbomike provided of the Saratoga show. How does that site work? Are all shows on there?
Is that a free site? Do you need to register to download?
Also, I'm not up on the file types. I know Torrent(Bit Torrents?) a little bit, but 24 Bit Flac, OGG VBR and VBR MP3 are strange to me. Can I just download the songs and play, or do I need some kind of conversion app?
Thanks...

the site is free.
you can stream or download. You can d/l entire shows or the songs you like. You can d/l flac which needs to be played on a special player (can get with free program) or converted (recommended for better sound quality, especially if you wan to make a CD)or you can d/l MP3.
I was at the SPAC show and have listened to the Wolftrap and Providence shows. They are on fire. The jams are different every night, with new horn parts, rhythms, etc. Derek is killing it as usual.
And, I'm thrilled that Susan finally included the lines
"Just one thing I ask of you, Just one thing for me.
Please forget you knew my name, my darling, Sugaree"
in the Providence show
