TTB in PA last night.

Some brief comments re TTB show last night
1). Best TTB show I have been to
2) First TTB show where I sat.
3) fans shouting out between song very obnoxious
4) Derek given opportunity to rip it up on almost every song.
5) Susan becoming more fluid with her guitar work when jamming with Derek.
6) so much talent in a very large band.
6) Thinking about how nice it would have been to see Derek, Warren withABB at Beacon this March standing/rocking out in the Orchestra. Missing the fans almost as much as the band.

6) 🙁

Saw them in Jacksonville recently - seeing the again next Friday in Macon! Anybody going to that one?
I've seen this band ... a lot! They get better each time!

They do get better each time. This is probably the only band I will travel more than an hour or so to see. I am traveling to see Mark Knopfler but that is because at my advanced age this may be the last shot I get to see him.
I can't wait until TTB heads up north in Sept.

Agreed about traveling to see band. We drove 2.5 hours from Cleveland. Actually had lost tickets which I purchased on stub hub. Explained situation in advance to the director of the 1300 seat Palace Theater in Greensburg Pa and she told me to bring email notification of tics from stub hub and they let me in. Definitely would not have happened at larger venue.

I'm going tonight and tomorrow. It looks like the weather is going to suck tomorrow. I might get a hotel and stay in DC tonight.
Hey Mustangbob! Any stand outs in the setlist? Did they play "Fire and Rain"? I really like that encore and am hoping for one tonight or, even better, tomorrow. I've got balcony tonight and a great orchestra seat tomorrow.
JerryJuice - I think my Brother is going to the Macon show. There are still good seats available down there. I think some in the balcony are under $20 without fees. My Bro is on his way to the box office today. I hope he has good luck.

As much as I am there for Derek a highlight for me was Dylan's, "Don't Think Twice". Susan shined. Other notable tunes included The Storm, Idle Wind, Made up Mind, Do I look Worried, Midnight in Harlem, and I believe the encore was Bound for Glory. If I am not mistaken Idle Wind turned into a long jam with all participating. Ahh again memories of march at the Beacon. I am still learning these tunes so I apologize in advance if I got something wrong. I can say that while there are times during an ABB concert that a song just wont agree with me, every song last night was at worst very very good.

I'm hitting the road in about an hour. I'll provide my perceptions later tonight.

I attended last Sunday in Wilkes-Barre and Tuesday and Wilmington. They were my 5th and 6th shows since December.
This band just keeps getting better, more experimental, stretching, giving Susan a break, but at the same time, she shines throughout.
Sunday's show was especially great. Derek was on fire more than I've ever seen him with this band. Some tunes definitely had a DTB vibe, more Kofi, great jams. And while I never thought I'd say it, I don't miss Oteil anymore. Tim Lefebvre is outstanding. If the music keeps going in this direction, I'll be a happy guy.

BigDaveOnBass and I will be in Macon 😛

Without a doubt they are getting better and better. As a show tonight's performance exemplified pacing, dynamics and dissonance like no other time I've seen them. Counting festivals I'm near ten performances.
They let Kofi off his leash a couple times tonight. Some great keyboard and organ solos as well as at least three solid flute performances.
The drummers are really hitting the note. They are in sync and driving the ship.
Tim on electric bass was rip snorting tonight. His turn on acoustic bass with Susan was sublime.
Mike was playing rhythm guitar on several songs tonight.
The horn section is a show all by themselves.
Susan's guitar playing is getting grimier and more staccato. Her tone is unique and she stands toe to toe with Derek. Her solos in "I Pity the Fool" and "In the Palace of the King" were fantastic. I also think she took a solo in "Keep on Growing".
When Derek opened "The Storm" with Zeppelin's "What is and What Should Never Be"... well, I was gobsmacked. He was all by himself in the middle of the stage spot lit and jamming. It was stupendous!
For my dollar this band is as it good as it gets right now. They are in the groove and happening!

Great to hear you had fun! Hope the second night is even better for ya! 😛

How were the nachos?
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I've stated on many, many numerous occasions that this will be the band that I follow in a post-ABB world.
The music that they play (for me) transcends that of the Allman Brothers. I didn't say, "eclipses" - what I mean is that they are taking what became "jam band" music (why do we have to have labels in life?) and progressed to new jazz/eastern level while at the same time regressing to the soul music that originally inspired Gregory and Duane. Nobody know what Duane would have done with or where he would have taken his band (Allman Brothers) had he lived, but in some of his last interviews he hinted at a desire to have horns and a more full, big-band approach. I honestly think Duane would be a fan of this band.
Every player in this troupe is absolutely superb. Everybody brings something to the picnic.
I know that what they do doesn't appeal to or inspire every fan of former band member projects. Anytime an artist or band changes direction in venture there will be folks who step off while others step on. More than anything, I appreciate and respect these artists for accepting this and following their own vision and muse. There are so many acts who stick with the status quo only for the guaranteed paycheck.
Hey Bluedad! I'll look for you and BigDave (and others) in Macon! We've got a room at the same hotel that the GABBA crowd convened in. Don't know what the pre/post-show arrangements are. If y'all are sticking around, maybe a meal or some in-room pickin' before or after?

I am trying to catch them in DC tonight and was curious if they have an opening act or what time they take the stage? Weather looks a little dicey so need to plan accordingly. Anyone know how the show was last night in DC?

My above post was regarding last night's DC show mdangler.
Corey Harris opens tonight's show. Last night's opener was Spirit Family Reunion. They were good but, like most openers, they were a distant memory after the first few bars by TTB.
I booked a hotel for tonight's show because of the weather. That might help you score a ticket. There were folks selling tickets outside the venue last night. If you are close I'd get to the box office today and see if you get lucky. The TTB web site shows tonight's show as sold out. I bet you can get a great ticket, especially if you are on your own. There are a few seats on Ticketmaster right now, a couple w/in the first 6 rows to the sides that would be darn good, if you get to the box office you will save nearly $20 in fees.
I'm looking for a "Fire and Rain" encore tonight.
Last night's show was a barn burner and I expect more of the same tonight.
I've got to pack my duffel and hit the snowy I-95.
If you go I'm sure you will have a great time!
