Tommy Talton’s final record

Not bad. It sounds familiar to an extent.
Tommy passed away in December, 2023 at age 74.
Plays the acoustic guitar on Pony Boy, lead and slide guitar on the Gregg Allman album Laid Back and the Gregg Allman live album from 1974. Cowboy ( Talton and Boyer) have two tracks on Gregg's live album.
I have some Cowboy albums from early 1970's which are real fine.

Outstanding song, performance and production! Tommy was one of the nicest people I've ever met. I got to speak with him on several occasions. Usually, I get nervous and intimidated when I meet my heroes. I told Tommy that and that "(In Europe) Someone Else's Shoes" was among my favorite records by ANYBODY - EVER. He got a chuckle out of that and told me, "I need to hear this kinda stuff!" I miss him and Scott Boyer (another nice guy) so much.

I first saw Tommy perform in 1971 when Cowboy opened for ABB. I liked Cowboy instantly and thought they were loaded with talent, and I liked the songwriting a lot. I saw two nights back to back of the Gregg orchestra tour in mid ‘70’s when Boyer & Talton were part of the orchestra. They put out several more albums with Tommy & Scott as primary songwriters. Tommy did a lot of solo gigs and continued to write good material. In 2021 I reached out to Tommy & shared my appreciation for his playing and writing. We had a good conversation about music through the years, the Cowboy days, writing, etc. I echo Rusty’s words. I asked Tommy if he’d play on a few of my songwriter demos, and he couldn’t have more kind to do it. We worked out the songs, and his parts. I so much appreciated him doing this for me – someone I had listened to since the early ‘70’s & followed his career. Attached is one of the songs Tommy played slide on. He passed away in 2023. Good guy & good musician!

@martind28 I really like that song. The vocals are very good and Tommy's side guitar is very good of course. Nice best.

@martind28 Very nice song! Having Tommy Talton play on one of your songs! That's not a brush with fame - that's a head-on collision! 😉

Rusty, Rick Hirsch (Wet Willie) did a lot of the production, played guitar, and did the final mix. That’s Donna Hall singing on the single.
