Tommy Emmanuel & Friends @The City Winery, NY 1/15/19

Tommy Emmanuel rocked the City Winery like few acoustic players could. This Gent can shred with the best of Metal and all on an acoustic guitar. Super fun display by my favorite Aussie from Tennessee. He was joined by John Knowles in support of their new CD Heart Songs. Since 2015 he's put out 8 CD's including a Christmas CD. He played Rudolph even though it's not on that disc. A nice frolickin' version. He also had Vinny Raniolo and Olli Soikkeli jump onstage for 2 songs including some Django. He's got a few dates in America and then goes overseas for a bit. He was down to earth when I last saw him after the Gregg Southern Blood show and again this night after the show and on stage singing songs for his recently parted older brother and sister on A Song For A Rainy Morning and a sweet version of I Still Can't Say Goodbye for his Dad. Touching and relatable moments that are special moments in life we all reflect upon. Check his show out, he's a musical treasure.
He has some luthier love in him too. Downstairs @The Winery they lined the table up with Maton Guitars. Tommy hand built one that was on display but sold. I loved it! It had Tommy's signature on the back of the head stock and came with a flash drive that had video of Tommy building it through all the stages. The pic's of it are included below with other pictures in the Maton line. Founded in Australia the line has some rare woods. I loved the miniature guitar, it had some solid girth that matched the sound. 2 of the guitars were made of Australian Black wood. Some head stocks had the Kangaroo logo. Bill from the Maton Tennessee shop was a nice informative and patient Gent. An all around show for Fretsmen no doubt.

Shit!!! How the f*uck did I miss this!!! Damn!!!!

Tommy is such a class act. He truly enjoys what he is doing and it shows. For being one of the more talented people who ever walked the planet, he is still quite humble and easily accessible. I've seen him a few times and he never disappoints. The guy never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for the revue!

On march the 15nd i'm going to see him live for the first time in a nearby city (Heerlen, Netherlands):
"Tommy Emmanuel - with special guest JD Simo"
Looking forward to it. Also dig JD Simo a lot so it looks like a fun gig.
