Yeah boy!!! I saw him live with Dire Straits and once solo and he is real good. That IS some of the best and most intense melodic guitar playing I've heard, which I like more than shredding and tricks.

Funny thing Mark is like Mick Jagger. With the band or solo, he has all the spot light time. Even more than Mick. Mark also played all the solos in Dire Straits. And wrote all the songs. What was the difference between Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler solo? Very little if any.

He is a great guitarist, song writer and performer.
