Thinking of Tommy Bolin on his birthday

August 1st, same as Jerry's.
Tommy Bolin has some must-own performances.
His work on Billy Cobham's "Spectrum" is essential. That's where we get "Stratus" and "Red Baron."
His solo album "Teaser" is a must also.
I'd then point to "Zephyr: Live at Art's Bar and Grill," "Tommy Bolin & Friends: Live at Ebbets Field 1974," and "From the Archives" volumes 1 and 2 as essentials.
There are plenty of others too. What a powerful musician: singer, writer, guitarist. If you don't know your Bolin, check him out. And if all you've heard is the Deep Purple stuff, you really need to hear his better years.

listened to come taste the band last night. tonight it's bang (james gang) and ebbets field.
r.i.p tommy.

Thanks Jim! Tommy has become one of my favorite guitar players. The more I listen to his music, the more I appreciate his style and vibe. As the cliche goes, "What could have been…"
Tommy will get some spins tomorrow. RIP Mr. Bolin. You left us all too soon 🙁
