The article says the list is mostly data driven, IE what people actually listen to on Spotify in Atlanta.
So the next question is who listens to Spotify? According to this Forbes acticle, it's mostly millennials:
That goes a long way to explaining why (at least for me) I have never heard of most of the artists or songs on the list.
