If you don't come up with some songs, then they will hire some idiot from Hollywood to badly misrepresent you with Justin Bieber and Flava Flav....

Sound track of my life...late 50's early 60's...Duke of Earl and Louie Louie are the first songs I remember being attracted to. There were 2 radio stations on AM here in the SF Bay Area 1260 KYA and 610 KFRC.....They played the pop hits of the late 50's through the current year you were listening to. Those 2 stations also played a cross over over of a few “blues” tunes....except at the time I didn't know what they were...but Scratch my back by Slim Harpo and Any way you want me by Jimmy Reed and Kansas City were in the rotation. Along with great early R&B ...JR Walker, Hank Ballard....Booker T and the MG. James Brown and all the artists from Motown....60's AM radio was the bomb...Yeah there were a few sappy tunes along the way but I can say I even like some of them...By 1969 you could hear Duke of Earl and the next song would be Santana's Evil ways then a Supreme's tune backed by some CCR and then maybe a Booker T tune or Foxy Lady might come on....Radio was freeking good then...You'd even get some Frank Sinatra and some great Bobby Darin tunes...then some Aretha....Of course we had the British invasion with the Beatles and Rolling Stones along with all the smaller acts that got signed...hermit hermits....etc......Into the 70's we still had a love for the 50's music it was huge because of happy days. Then I found the Allman Brothers and that lead to a whole different way of listening...Blues and Jazz became the focus...I studied music in college so Classical came into the fold....I discovered the Grateful Dead and then Blue grass and country music came into my round of listening experiences...
I still love all that stuff....I'll even crank Duke of earl if I hear it....might even play it on youtube

The no Jive 95 KSAN.....Yep I heard black hearted woman on that station one night while cruzin and wondered who the F#$%^&k was that....I heard Gregg's version of Midnight rider on KSAN....there was quite a few good stations....KBLX played all the soul music of the time
Growing up in Chicago in the 60's I listened to WLS and would get their top 40 list at the local record store.
Started out as a kid with the bubble gum songs and "bands" Dave Clark 5, Paul Revere and the Raiders, the Monkees etc.
First real band was The Beatles, then got into Bob Dylan.
High school brought heavy metal for me, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Led Zeppelin.
As it was termed then Southern rock. Allman Brothers Band, ZZ Top, Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels.
During and after the bands that I listed. I still to this day listen to them but add Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, Aerosmith, Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Neil Young. Eric Clapton, CSNY, John Prine, Tom Waits, Rolling Stones, CCR, the Who, throw in country, blues, bluegrass. Not a day goes by I don't listen to music. He has healing power beyond believe.
But all said and done, my number one song is the original line up of ABB, with Duane and Dickey playing Blue Sky. Perfection in my mind
