The Remembering Gregg Allman shows were special events. On Night 1 they played Back To Macon in it's entirety and on Night 2 they played Southern Blood fully with 3 outtakes from the sessions and closed with ensemble versions of One Way Out and Statesboro Blues. The shows both showcased the Gregg Allman Band and the beauty of Gregg Allman himself.

Night 1 was powerful and Night 2 was heartwarming. Alan Paul made opening comments and brought out the Gents on both nights. The Band was tight and never skipped a beat. Sadly both nights had the horn section tucked away in the corner, tho not seen they were definitely heard. I posted this interview in another thread and felt it'd be proper to include here also.

I played Southern Blood for the ride home on Night 2 and was engulfed by the depth of Mr. Allman. Scott had said that those Southern Blood sessions were some of Gregg's all time finest vocal output and it's hard to argue against that assessment. The soul and warmth of his vocals and song choices represent a man who lived fully and has some reflections to share. Pure beauty. The lyrics of My Only True Friend are deep and prophetic. His line of "I hope you're haunted by the music...… of my soul" has rung true. God Bless Gregg Allman.

Night 1 6/24/10 with the Gregg Allman Band (Bobby Allende (d), Brett Bass (b), Jay Collins (h), Art Edmaiston (h), Mark Franklin (h), Peter Levin (K), Steve Potts (d), & Scott Sharrard (g/v) and special guests Deva Mahal (v), Slam Allen (g), Luther Dickinson (g), James Maddock (g), Brian Mitchell (k) & Quinn Sullivan (g).

Thanks man. Flattered to be included in this and happy to have my little intro recorded. I was just winging it and speaking from the heart. Whew. There was a lot of great moments over the two nights and there was really a sweet feeling amongst the musicians.

You were part of the festivities. I heard the intimate interview on Night 2 was sweet. It was a special tribute. Like a wise couple says.... "Know that you are loved!"
