I went solo to the city to meet an out of state buddy at the Outlaws show @ BB Kings place on 42nd St. Great night. I'm an old school Southern Rock guy. My High School years were 77-81 and when Skynyrd's plane went down it caused ripples in a lot of musical ponds and from then on the ABB, The MTB, The CDB, Skynyrd, & The Outlaws became part of my life. I'm a big Hughie fan as I've professed in the past. I support the current line-up though in my ears and heart it will always be Hughie and Billy's arsenal that gave the Florida Guitar Army their fire power. I know there's been feuds and turmoil and I hope Hughie, Frank, and Billy's estates are respected in some form. Henry stated that there will be a double live album and DVD package coming out this fall. This line-up has some great players and they do the music justice, I will surely be looking for it. Monte and Henry are the lone originals on drums and rhythm guitar/vocals trespectively, but Chris Anderson and Steve Grisham provide the ammo in today's stringed siege and were trench mates of Mr. Thomasson. That carries weight with me in regards to supporting the present line-up in keeping the music and tradition alive. Chris Anderson is impressive, The more I see the more I hear. The BB King show also featured former member Billy Crain (still got it!), Randy Threet on bass and Dave Robbins on keyboards round out the band. Great night of uptempo Rock N Roll. Great night in general.

I included a couple pic's from backstage, 1 showing the weapon rack and the Flowers from BB's Funeral. Guns and Roses. Somber sweet tribute they had backstage to Mr. King. Homage to the man, RIP Sir.

After the show I had a good head on so I went bouncing around the city. It costs $13 to cross the George I might as well get my monies worth. I left the show wondering the outcome of the Rangers Games 7 vs Tampa Bay and I had to look no further than the Empire State Building. Rather than the building being lit up victoriously in Ranger Red, White, & Blue it was just lit up in all white. I don't know if it was a sign of peace, sorrow, surrender, or what but it told the tale, I didn't know the score, but I knew the outcome. I saw a building with a clock on the side with 11:53PM so I yanked into a spot to take a poetic picture of the Empire State at the midnight witching hour exactly but the camera captured 12:00:02, Those 2 seconds blew the whole effect? I continued on my journey to find a film crew starting up over on Broadway and Leonard stopped to grab a shot and it turned out to be the filming of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle sequel, So ends my tale of Outlaws & Turtles.

Here's a couple pic's and video from the show, Please forgive the shoddy unsteadiness of the video at times as I brought a $9.99 rinky dink tripod and it proved it's worth. After having an initial Goose and Orange at BB's. When I set up to tape I loaded up my cocktail supply. I asked the waiter for 2 Jumbo Goose & Oranges, He asked do I want 2 jumbo's or 2 doubles. I said make it both 2 Jumbo Double Grey Goose and OJ's and bam $69 for the 2, They were good, I threw the kind Gent $80 and didn't bother him til I got the one for the road. Did that contribute to the tripod's ineffectiveness, Could be, Sorry, Now that ends my story.

Nice story and good photos.

Sounds like I could not afford to drink in NYC.

Henry made sure that didn't happen...

I don't know if it was a sign of peace, sorrow, surrender

As with other bands (Ahem), I regret the drama. I love the music. They created beauty and that's what speaks to me.....

Here's to Greener Grass and Higher Tides.

I haven't been a fan of the NotLaws for reasons noted above but they sure do sound pretty damned good.
