Coming to a shed near you:  Willie Nelson & Family, Gov't Mule, The Avett Brothers, Lucinda Williams, Ryan Bingham, Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, etc.   WOW......

Pre-sale for Shoreline Amphitheatre October 23 here by the Bay go on sale tomorrow.  Kind of an unusual tour for the Mule to be on, but hey, Warren & Co. can play anything, will be interesting to see if they do a country set.

I would imagine Gov't Mule will do Take This Job And Shove It, You Never Even Called Me By My Name, If You Don't Like Hank Williams You Can Kiss My ?&$,  Ramblin' Man and Two Of A Kind, Working On A Full House. Maybe even throw in He Stopped Loving Her Today and The Race Is On.  Of course on The Race Is On Warren will have to play a Telecaster which I've never seen him play. Also they could do Six Days On The Road.

Race Is On has to have a Tele on it. No other guitar will work.

And Warren could play his new Telecaster on Hot Rod Lincoln!!

And Six Days On The Road...I'm taking little white pills and my eyes are open wide!! My rig is a little old but that don't mean she is slow!! THERE IS A FLAME FROM HER STACK AND THE SMOKE IS BLOWING BLACK AS COAL!!!!

Apparently Dickey has played a Tele.

In 2002 there was a magazine interview with Dickey and he is asked about his guitars which was said to be about 40. He had a Telecaster but I think his grandson plays it in a band down in Florida now. Or before the pandemic.

I was reading about Keith Richards and he owns a ton of Telecasters. And every other make you can think of. They said Keith Richards owns over one thousand guitars.

@robertdee:  Hot Rod Lincoln was smoking HOT!

Unfortunately today's pre-sale for Outlaw Music Festival isn't quite as hot.  IT'S FOR CITIBANK CARDHOLDERS ONLY.  Corporate America SUCKS.  Regular on-sale to peons like me starts Thursday.  I have credit cards but obviously not the right kind...........

@porkchopbob. Ah hey Porkchopbob!!! Thanks. And actually Warren Haynes sounded real fine on that Tele. I figured since Warren lived and worked in Nashville in the 1980s he had a Tele. And I love they way the top strings ( low note strings) sound on a Telecaster.

After watching Warren I went fishing and found Jackie Boy on a Telecaster.

@robslob Oh well I have an account with Wells Fargo so maybe they will let me in.

I saw Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airman back in the 1970's and they were good. Played their hit twice. About the fourth song then at the end. But they did a lot of rock a billy stuff really well such as Six Days On The Road. They were kinda a real good rock a billy cover band that had a big hit of their own.

And the lead player played a Telecaster and he was real good.

AND SPEAKING OF THEIR LEAD PLAYER!!!! Here he is in 2008 playing Hot Rod Lincoln and he goes into The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Roy Orbison, Earl Scruggs, Johnny Cash, B B King, Albert King, Muddy Waters, The Ventures and many more and WOW that man shows just how YOU CAN PLAY EVERY KIND OF MUSIC ON A TELECASTER!! This is unbelievable.

And here is Bill as a young man with I'm Down To Stems and Seeds Again.

I read about him and he was born in 1948 and became a Telecaster man when a complete stranger on a bus talked Bill into trading his Gibson SG for the 1959 Fender Telecaster the stranger had. He wondered if he got cheated as he had a good sounding SG but Bill took to that Telecaster and was getting sounds and tones he had never thought about. This was in the late 1960's and he stayed on the 1959 Tele until 2005 when he decided to retire it and put it in a safe place.

Robertdee.

I gotta say, it’s hard to keep track of what’s going on in a thread when you just constantly post videos or missives on only tangentially related stuff.

you know, you can always start your own new topic.

@cmgst34. I'm sorry. I was reading about the outlaw movement yesterday and discovered Commander Cody and The Lost Planet Airman was part of this but far from the most successful. Several more noted musicians jammed with them including Jerry Garcia.

Yes I probably should have started a new thread. But for a good number of weeks on my smart phone there is no icon to click on to begin a new thread but I can respond on a thread already established.  Maybe I'm not allowed to start a new thread. Not sure.

Hope all have a great day.

@robertdee:  I can see his point............SOMETIMES.  I started a thread on Whipping Post about The Oakland Athletics winning 13 straight games.  You responded with something that was COMPLETELY off subject, the only connection to my thread was that it was about baseball, but COMPLETELY off the subject of the thread I started.  So yeah, you do have a tendency to do that sometimes.

But in the subject of THIS particular thread, you did not do that.  In fact, I think your videos were very pertinent to the subject, live country music, you were theorizing about what country tunes the Mule might do at Outlaw Music Festival.  That's completely on target, and I watched all three of George Jones, Commander Cody and The Stones w/ Taj Mahal and all three were excellent (particularly dug Commander).

Rule of thumb:  Just keep some relationship to the subject at hand.  We know you're a source of knowledge.

I assure you Mule will be playing a Mule set not some country music set. These Willie Outlaw Music festival tours have been around for a number of years and the rock acts included play their normal shows. Phil Lesh has played them, Counting Crows, Dawes, Van Morrison etc. Mule of course will be playing probably about a 1/3 of a regular Mule set time wise but that goes with the territory.

@robslob Thanks robslob. Thank you for the advice.

tbomike. So you don't think the Mule will play Boot Scootin' Boogie.  Or The Wahbash Cannonball.
