the movie "Amadeus"

Not long ago, there was brief mention on some thread by a few of use that we have taken to listening to some classical music. For me, it is putting myself in the hands of some DJs on classical music shows on some of the local community radio or NPR stations; I really don't know my stuff, but my appreciation for it sure has been developing.
Last night I showed up late to the dance: I finally watched the 1984 film "Amadeus," which I knew was widely praised, yet somehow I had never gotten to see it. What a treat! Excellent acting, loads of visual flair, and glorious music. It won me over to really enjoying its moments of opera, which had always been a bridge too far for me.
It is an excellent movie in and of itself, but it also presents a great argument for the beauty of Mozart's music.

Discovering classical music can be a great experience. When I went to college to study music they made you take a music appreciation class and it guided me to really fall in love with the many genre's that fall under the classical title
Gregorian Chant 590-604
Medieval era 550-1400
Renaissance 1400-1600
Baroque 1600-1750
Classical 1750-1820 Mozart , Beethoven
Romantic 1810-1910 Chopin, Liszt, Tchaikovsky
Modern Composition there are many sub-genere's under this
I love the Baroque era most Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann but also love all the eras
Want to get mind blown listen to the "Rite of Spring" by Stravinsky first performed in 1913 and it caused a riot. It was written as a ballet but the music is intense...Turn it up!!! It RnR classical music and it's awesome

I take a similar approach in just listening to FM stations and recently SiriusXM added a good one.
Way too much volume out there to sort thru, otherwise, for me.
Amadeus is superb. It will stand the test of time.
Funny story - toured Mozart's boyhood house which of course is a museum in Salzburg and they asked my daughter if she'd like to play on one of his pianos. You should've seen the expressions of horror on their faces when she played Beethoven! They were completely aghast and my 16 years old daughter was like, "what's the big deal?"
