'The Gregg Allman Tour' is wondrous piece of work!

Just listened to it for the first time in ages and was enthralled...Sharp rearrangements of "Stand Back" and "Dreams," not to mention a moving solo rendition of the never-officially recorded "Oncoming Traffic"!?!?!...Deserves an expansion to a double-CD set, including more Cowboy!!!...And may I suggest to the powers-that-be---have original mastering engineer George Marino do the honors again?!?

I saw that tour in early 1974 with the violins and Bill Stewart and Jaimoe on drums then again that fall and Gregg didn't have the strings and just Bill Stewart on drums. Of course Tommy Talton and Scott Boyer and Chuck Leavell in the band and Tommy Talton was impressive on slide doing Dreams and Stand back. I have the Gregg Allman Tour on a double vinyl package I bought in 1974.
Here is Tommy and Randell doing Dreams just a few years ago. Both of them are on Gregg's Laid Back studio album too!

It's one of my favorite albums, perfect companion to Laid Back. I've found some complete shows from that tour (and there were some cuts on the Laid Back deluxe edition), there's definitely more great material that would make for a great Expanded Edition.

I always loved that record as well had it in vinyl way back but got rid of 95% of my vinyl. Fortunately I picked up a CD copy maybe 25 years ago before it went out of print. Yes it is in bad need of a remaster if for no other reason than people need to be able to buy it. Problem is the market for this is very limited due to the age of us hard core GA fans. So who is going to invest in the cost of remastering this great record?
Go to Amazon the only thing they have is an MP3 for $9.49 or a used disc for $29.98. Cryin' shame I say..........

GA Tour was released by Polydor in the early 1990s and then went out of print, but it got remastered and re-released in 2001 and again in 2019.

One can listen to the album on Gregg Allman's YouTube Channel

@porkchopbob Duane Allman and Gregg too were fans of Cowboy weren't they?
I saw the spring and fall Gregg Allman tour in 1974 and was very impressed with Tommy Talton's slide player. You know more about playing slide than I do. Do you think Tommy was better than average on slide?
Also I've been diggin' this guy slide off and on for a few weeks. See what you think.

Great shows with the 24 piece band. I saw a couple shows back to back. Highlight concerts!

Got my vinyl copy in the $2 cutout bin back in the 70's. Barely played it back then as I was expecting it to sound like the ABB's. Recently started listening to my vinyl again and have a new appreciation for it.
Could use a remaster from the original analog tapes if they still exist but it is a solid live album.
Duane would have loved the big band I think as he was always trying to expand the Brothers back in the day.

It is indeed a wonderous piece of work. One of my favorite albums. Not a bad track on it. One of the few my whole family can listen to start to finish where we all enjoy every track. Expanded edition would be awesome!

Gregg Allman was on his "A" game by fall of 1973 and spring of 1974.
Here is Gregg's organ up in the mix and outstanding vocals on a live Stormy Monday from November 1973.
Gregg is outstanding and so is the entire band. Man o man could Betts play the blues!!!

Amazon has it on vinyl. Pretty reasonable price.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

Guitar sounds out of tune but it's an emotional performance of Melissa in 1974.

I would love to have more from that tour. The albums is such a good leave 'em wanting more album.
