The Sonny Sharrock thread inspired this topic:

What if

Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix had recorded together?

George Harrison never met Ravi Shankar?

Jerry Garcia had studied music theory?

etc

I always wondered if Duane Allman hadn’t left us so early would he have continued on with the ABB.

What if Bonham hadn't died when he did? Could Zeppelin have endured the change into the 1980s better than most great 1970s bands did?

What if Mick Taylor had stayed with Jack Bruce to write new stuff, record, and tour on it, rather than being "one tour and done" in 1975 and then going off the map?

What if Tommy Bolin hadn't gotten the Deep Purple gig, but instead kept more of a foot in the fusion world?

What if Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane never ran out of fuel...

I have thought about this before with Duane.
His passing was kinda like a domino effect for the future
affecting the ABB of ,"who knows?"
Also Barry's passing which would have effected future bass players in the band

Would we have ever known Warren Haynes as part of the ABB
who met Woody to form the Mule. Thats pretty significant .

Good chance we never would have got to see and hear the magic between Warren and
Dickey and also Derek in that band.

Probably alot more to Duanes leaving that I am missing , but like I mentioned
the domino effect it could have had for the future if he was still with us
effected a lot of music being played and created and musicians meeting and not meeting.

All interesting scenarios

Right on! There should be a Grammy Award for music fan sites. Rowland should be given an 8' tall one!

What if Neil Peart stayed employed at his Dad's parts store, didn't try out for Rush.

Would they have been as good ?

What if Dickey shopped Ramblin Man to Nashville instead of putting it on Brothers & Sisters...

Would the ABB have survived to reunite in the late 80's/90's?

When the band was floundering in the eighties, what if Dickey decided to go country.

What if Pete Best remained The Beatle's drummer and Ringo remained with Rory Storm?

This one is easy: Without Ringo, they would not have amounted to nearly as much. He made the Beatles who they were: https://www.spectator.co.uk/2015/07/ringos-no-joke-he-was-a-genius-and-the-beatles-were-lucky-to-have-him/#

There are enough recordings of them with Pete Best to show that he was adequate, but nothing special: https://www.amazon.com/Hamburg-1961-Tony-Sheridan-Beatles/dp/B000006LL0/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1489786615&sr=1-2&keywords=beatles+1961

What if Duane Allman were still alive to school someone who thinks Jerry Garcia did not study music theory?

What if Dio had stayed with Rainbow rather than joining Sabbath?

What if Pete Townshend had brought his "Empty Glass" songs to The Who rather than using them for a solo album?

Peter Green. Not sure what ever happened to him mentally, but he kinda checked out as far as the direction he was headed in during his prime. Would Fleetwood Mac still be known as a blues band ,which where would Stevie and Lindsay be?

Ritchie wanted more main stream success,so not sure Ronnie had a choice.
