the forum harrisburg pa

just picked up a sweet mule ticket for the forum. what is this theatre like? any good places for food/drink near there?

Harrisburg native here! The Forum is a cool old round building attached to the Pennsylvania State Library in downtown Harrisburg right behind the Capitol Complex (Harrisburg being the state capital). I believe the Forum is on 4th or 5th Street, and there are a lot of good restaurants and bars two or three blocks closer to the Susquehanna River on 2nd Street. In fact, that portion of 2nd Street is known as "Restaurant Row". The Forum itself is where the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra plays so it's a good sounding room for certain. They don't use it a lot for non-classical events, but I have seen there in the past: BB King (1993), John Prine (2002), Gordon Lightfoot (2004), Buddy Guy (2005), Lucinda Williams (maybe 2006), Emmylou Harris Patty Griffin Shawn Colvin and Buddy Miller (2007 or so) and yes, Gov't Mule (2008). The ceiling of the Forum is neat because it is painted with constellations and the stars are where the tiny lights are. Great venue; somewhat under utilized. I think you'll have a good time in Harrisburg. Send me a pm if you'd like any more info. Harrisburg has always had a pocket of Allman Brothers Band fans and deadheads.

thanks for the info!!!

Yes thanks for the info. I pulled a great pair yesterday even though I am not sure if I can pull the date off yet. But hoping my buddy from Philly will meet me.
