He was 285 lbs of "twisted steel and sex appeal". http://www.wwe.com/inside/dusty-rhodes-passes-away
He lived to be 69 .. that's old for a wrestler

I won't lie, when I was a kid World Championship Wrestling on WTBS at 6:05 on Saturday was must see TV. Dusty was one entertaining man.

I know him mainly from that line in the Randall Bramblett (Sea Level) song. I remember the rassle-mania movement of the 1980's, though. He was a star in his own right.

Farewell to "Tha thon of a plummah !". Another part of my childhood gone away.

Duthty Rhode Amekan Dream....thun of a Tekthus plumma.....Ric Flair, you yella egg thuckin DAWG....

TBS was a mainstay for me growing up. Braves, Georgia/World Championship Wrestling, and the reason us kids loaded up on caffeine to stay up late on Saturday nights...Night Tracks.

"Ric Flair, the thratusphere is reserved fa you and I."

Before WCW before WWE there was the NWA and Crockett Promotions out of Charlotte, NC where Dusty made an appearance or two. I believe poor Dusty was attacked on South Blvd. in broad daylight by the Four Horsemen and broke his arm. Back when rasslin' was real. You'll always be the American Dream. Long live the memory of Dusty Rhodes!

Here Here!! ....although I was a Four Horseman fan!

An American classic.
& don't forget for a short time he was also known as The Midnight Rider....
RIP
Dream

Dusty after one of his infamous head butts.
He spent most of his early career here in Tampa, and was a local rock star during the 70's.
Ride in peace, Dusty. Say howdy to the Great Malenko when you see him.
Article about his days in Tampa.

We didn't have MTV where I grew up so Night Tracks and NBC's Friday Night Videos were the only places that I could see videos.
