The Allman Brothers Band: Southbound & Duane's Tune w/Berry Oakley Jr Reunion Tour '89

Thanks allmansvvegas for finding and posting this footage. Warren, Dickey and company came to play. Hot git-tar from Warren and Dickey. It seemed Berry Duane Oakley was rolling well too. Johnny Neal has lots of energy but plays too many notes or gets out of sync or something.
Anyway I well remember how pleased and excited to see the band in 1989 to get back to really sounding like the Allman Brothers after going so far down the wrong road in 1981 with Mike Lawler and new material that seemed more suited to the Doobie Brothers' Michael McDonald years than the original sound of the band. And booting Jaimoe and replacing him with David Toler muddled the band's sound even further. David Toler was a good drummer but they didn't need two drummers if BOTH played like Butch Trucks. And Dan Toler was a good guitar player and from 1982 to 1989 was real fine as the ONLY guitar player in Gregg's band. But while with the ABB Dan's Dickey Betts influence was so obivious. I remember on some songs back then, Dan would play the same licks Dickey played. The ying and yang that made the guitars and drums add different colors to the painting that was the ABB sound was missing. That was restored a lot in 1989.
