The Allman Betts Band-Blue Sky

Come on, tell me this doesn't get your blood going? BTW Johnny Stachela can bring it too!

Saw them twice in 2018 they are not to be missed.

Saw them twice in 2018 they are not to be missed.
this is their "new band" with Berry Oakley Jr on bass and i am not sure who the new keyboard player is.
It will be really interesting to see the development of this band. They carry a hefty legacy but seem to all be bonded together from the outside looking in

I saw them on the Southern Rock Cruise last month. They were awesome!! Did a few ABB tunes, and some of their own as well. Hope they come to Dallas, TX soon.

Some folks in the one TTB thread seemed to want to put them down. I don't care what they say however. The Kids Are Alright.

Thanks for the post. Hopefully they will be in my area, would love to check them out.

Very nice. Honestly, I enjoyed that as much as any version of Blue Sky that didn't include Dickey. While BO Jr seems to lack the imagination of his dad, the tone is certainly spot on.

This is very nice. Thanks for posting.

For sure it's Good Shtuff! I plan on making it a habit to see these guys as much as possible!.........Peace......joe

I saw the band two weeks ago at the gig the video is from, The show was advertised as the Devon Allman Project and the Allman Betts band debuted during the middle of the show. Duane opened up with five songs off his solo album. I was really impressed by the maturity he demonstrated as a guitar player and band leader. I have seen him with his father, as a member of Dawes, as part of the Allman Project, and he seems like he has a tremendous amount of confidence.
Regarding Allman Betts, I like the new songs. Not a big fan of the lyrics which I think are cliched but I dig the music. First time seeing Oakley live and thought he was fine, Nothing stood out about him but he does the job. Devon Allman is the wild card here. Guy clearly wants to be the face of the band. For now, it seems like Duane is content to allow him to be. Really curious to see where this goes as I really think Duane is the star here. BYW, check out Duane’s solo album, it is very good.

I get it that You don't feel the Allman/Betts Band if not on par with the original ABB, valid opinion, but I'm not sure Your cover band thing holds water, after all, I doubt any version of the ABB ever played a show without 2 or 3 cover songs?..........Peace.........joe
