Nice GLA 47-17 on the helicopter. Catchy song.

The guitars are right too. Just watched an interview with Duane Betts Wednesday and he said he used his father's 1961 ES-335 dotneck on 60 % of the album. His dad's 56 Strat hardtail on some rhythm and guitar swells and the rest was his number one when on stage, a 2001 Dickey Betts signature Les Paul Goldtop.

Devon is using a Les Paul Jr. most of the time for about a year. Johnny is usually playing slide on a Derek Trucks signature SG or a Brother to Brother SG Dickey owns which is a custom shop replica of the SG Dickey gave Duane Allman for slide years ago.

Berry Oakley, Jr. is playing his father's Fender bass Dickey gave him several years ago. After Berry Sr. died , Dickey kept it at his house until he gave it to Berry Jr.

I think they probably finished recording most of the songs several months ago, but still had to mix the album when the quarantine hit. They were also embarking on a long tour to promote the new album when everything shut down. I even had tickets... Anyway, just hope they come around next year when the quarantine is over and we'll finally get to see this band play in the Northwest!

Yeah. I caught them in Blacksburg, Va where Virginia Tech is located in either late February or early March and their posters had a ton of shows for 2020 after the Blacksburg show all over the USA but just days latter they were shut down. And they had just cut a Europen tour and following USA dates were cut and postponed because of Devon Allman needing surgery. I think they finished the new album just after Devon was able to get around again but it had not been mixed when they began the long tour for 2020 that was cut way short because of the virus. Apparently some dates were postponed twice because of Devon's emergency surgery and later the virus.

Actually it is neither of those models... He calls that SG "stormy" - here is a short video on the guitar.

The cartoon video is perfect for these times. Way better solution than what they tried with the Zoom-style picture window video.

More importantly, the song is STRONG --- off to a great start ABB!

I want so much just to like this band....but the vocals are "lacking". Duane sounds out of key and Devon just tries to hard. I would like to hear this and a few more like them with Mr. Oakley singing....

I agree the vocals need work. I like Duane's voice but he needs to learn how to sing. I think it is new to him and i have no idea if they engage a vocals instructor but I think they need one if they haven't gotten one. Oakley does sing well-- they are a good band and that would help a lot

Thanks redhouse1969. The information I read sometime back was faulty. I have also read the SG Derek plays now is a Brother to Brother custom. If it is it should have the holes on the body where the whammy bar used to be when Dickey bought the original years ago. That is the Brother to Brother custom guitars don't have a whammy bar but to be a replica of the way it looked when Dickey gave it to Duane Allman so they put holes in the body to make it look authentic.

Blackey,

Yes Derek seems to like that Brother to Brother SG... I believe it was gifted to him by Galadrielle Allman but I cannot state that as 100% fact. He plays the hell out of it for sure!

I think vocally I agree with you. Devon does seem to go to the full throttle range a bit much. I think Duane's voice is much like his dads... it is what it is. To me the important part is how good is the song writing & I think Duane is coming into his own. Most of the notable songs seem to spring from his mind.
