Superbowl Half Time Show

Was one part of the broadcast I didn't watch. Figured I wouldn't like it so I had some stuff to do before second half. I mean, why complain...just don't watch it.

I didn't watch it but still mocked it.
After talking to half a dozen people that that did watch it I wish I had mocked it even more.

Yet, you're being completely judgemental, of women and Latin culture. There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy. The performance was harmless, unless you're a puritan. If any woman I know decided to do that, I'd respect their decision because there's nothing wrong with it. Who cares what Peoria thinks?
100% in agreement with porkchop here.
Worry about rape. Worry about murder. Worry about people who don't have enough to eat. Worry about a cure for cancer.
Scantily clad females shaking their booty? Personally, I LOVE watching it. I also do not see anything wrong with it. It's sexy, and there is nothing wrong with sex.
Maybe we need to stop teaching our kids that their IS something wrong with sex.

Exactly how did the stripper poles figure into this "message"?
Jennifer Lopez was sending a message to the Academy Awards nominating process that women still aren't getting their due. She was snubbed by the Oscars for her role in Hustlers - a role for which she has been nominated for several national & international prestigious awards - that's about a group of strippers who run a con on Wall Street guys. She plays the oldest member of & leader of the group. The movie was written, directed & produced by women - a rare trifecta in Hollywood. It also made >$100mm which far surpassed more expensive, prestigious, & predicted box office hits.
For the past 2 decades, the Oscars have been criticized for the lack of women & minority nominees in major categories compounded by allegations against powerful male Academy members in the #metoo movement. This year, JLo is the poster girl for such omissions.
So, JLo used her opportunity at the SB to draw attention to her movie, her box office draw & her Oscar snub. Had the snubbed movie been about robots, the segment would no doubt have featured robots.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Shakira part was very entertaining. She is an athlete level of physical performance. Was gymnast, choreography, music combined. She can sing also. I gave it A+ for what it was. Was surprised I enjoyed it so much.

The best take on this discussion I've heard yet came from an 85 year old man believe it or not who was my patient today. And we were not even on the subject of The Super Bowl halftime show.
He was a cool guy, a bit disheveled, but still very with it mentally. And when I say "with it" mentally, that's saying something because he was an attorney for a lot of years, and before that, a chemist. His first job as an attorney was for the FDA.
So I told him a "racy" joke. He laughed, and said, "We have a problem with sex in this country. The Europeans LAUGH at us!"
I think a lot of people who are upset about scantily clad women shaking their booty could take a lesson from this 85 year old man.
