With a planned release being in september, It sounds like the album will have 2 Gregg/Scott compositions and a slowed down version of love like Kerosene and the rest covers. What songs do you hope Gregg covered?
My choices

1. Ain't no love in the heart of the city

2.Champagne & Reefer

3. Ridin Thumb

I'm hoping there's a duet between Gregg and Dickey but who knows what's on the album?

For covers, I'm sure Gregg picked some good ones.

This is probably not the type of material Gregg would cover, but I always wanted to hear him cover a few Bob Seger songs that I thought he would sound good on.

It would have been nice to hear him release just an all acoustic album.

Well, I'm like a broken record with this one but here goes: DOWN IN TEXAS.

And, think if they slowed it way down and did it as a slow blues or soul tune. Just sing it on your head at about 1/3 speed. It'd be superb.

I had hoped that Gregg would do "Summertime"

Also would have liked to hear the Bob Welch song "Sentimental LadY'

I guess whatever the dude covers is what it will be. I'm still seriously bummed about him not being around any more. We've had these threads before, they're cool, I like 'em.

for me, and I've said it before, James Taylor's "Fire and Rain". Though the lyrics to that tune would be painfully poignant, I'd imagine it'd be tough for the guy to sing it so not covering it is very understandable.

seger suggestions were cool.

Sam Cooke, "A Change is Gonna Come". It's on the ABB's Live @ The Beacon DVD and Gregg just killed it. Hope he included a studio version of this.
Wilson Pickett, "I've Found A Love". Gregg did a resounding version of this on Back To Macon, the live record, but a studio version would be nice.

Boy, it'd sure be one hell of a surprise if he cut a final tune with Dickey, that would really be sweet, but kinda doubt the chances.
One can always hope.

The only song they ever co-wrote, One More Ride, from way back in the day, I really liked -- especially the long version w/Gregg's singing & the drum solo
Leaving the world w/1 final album -- Gregg will be so missed, just like Butch -- & just like Duane & BO back in the day

If we are allowed to lapse into pure fantasy:

* The Band: It Makes No Difference
* Wilco: Either Way
* The Replacements: Here Comes A Regular
* The Rolling Stones: Shine A Light, Sister Morphine, Sweet Virginia, the list goes on

* His take on "Needle & The Damage Done" sure was powerful.

or "Whiter Shade of Pale"....the list goes on. As the saying goes, the man could sing the phone book and it would sound good.

Wouldn't ever happen, but I could hear him tearin up Stella Blue.

Realistically, maybe something along the lines of JJ Cale? Thirteen Days, would be dark and spooky. Speaking of, he could nail Spooky.

I have trepidation on this on the horizon...............
I don't trust my processing abilities
Sadness may rise like a curse
and a little logjam will break in my soul

never liked last chapters
make me face my own
never liked melancholy
and it's a color on the life palette

what songs do I want
maybe none at the end
maybe that will change

the angled autumn sun showing the beauty
and at night two stars in the southern sky........

I loved the way the ABB performed Blind willie Mctell. I am looking forward to Southern Bloods release. I wish Gregg could have recorded "All compositions" by GA..But who knows what may come down the pipeline as far as releases.

I'm fine with anything he's done on it, I'm just happy we get a final album from Gregg.

I like many had hoped for most to be new Gregg songs but I'm fine that it's not... he's written so many great tunes and I can understand that wasn't what he was into his final years.

I'll live with all his great writings and enjoy his amazing interpretations of other great musicians.

I can't wait until it comes out... I wish it could have while he was here with us all.
