Forrest B. Sibley, the son of "Skyponydogboy" (Brent) was killed while serving his country in Afghanistan on Wednesday.

A Pensacola staff sergeant was one of two U.S airmen killed Wednesday in Afghanistan.
The Pentagon announced Staff Sgt. Forrest B. Sibley, 31, of Pensacola, Florida and Capt. Matthew D. Roland, 27, of Lexington, Kentucky died after the vehicle they were traveling in was attacked near Camp Antonik, Afghanistan. According to reports, the two were killed when a gunman dressed in an Afghan security forces uniform opened fire near the southern Afghanistan base. Coalition soldiers returned fire on the attackers, wounding the gunman and another person in an Afghan security forces uniform.
Sibley was assigned to the 21st Special Tactics Squadron, Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina. Roland was with the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida.
Four U.S. troops have died in combat in Afghanistan since the start of the year. Since 2001, more than 1,800 American soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan operations.

I read this story earlier, the one I read didn't have the names of the soldiers.
I remember when Brent posted frequently here, sorry and tremendously saddened to read this.
I wish it wasn't so. A sad day.

I heard about this yesterday. It broke my heart. Brent was so proud of his son and loved him so much. Please keep Brent and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Brent was very proud of his son, and with good reason. He was a very elite and accomplished soldier. Note the Special Tactics Squadron designation in the article. I am terribly sorry his bravery and courage led him to such a dangerous place and an untimely end.
Brent and I often disagreed about politics on this site, but I have always respected his love for music, family, God and country.
I wish Brent and his family all the solace that the universe can provide, and a safe journey for Forrest to the next world.

Brent, I am shocked and so very sorry for your loss. You and I talked over the years often of Forrest and I know how very proud of him you are.
I think that the only way a warrior such as Forrest could be taken down would be by a disguised coward and by surprise.
