I imagine things will only get better as the tour progresses, but I had to ask if anybody has given the two shows that are up a discerning listen (beyond "I was at the show and it rocked!"). I'm sure I will get a few through Muletracks, but I was looking to get some feedback before plunking down the coin.

By the by, the Eugene show appeared on etree: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=578252

A handful of us will be at the Chicago show this coming Friday. I'm sure we can chime in. Smile

I jumped the gun on this thread a while back, but now that they have some shows under their belt, I'm wondering if anybody has given the shows a discerning listen (again, beyond being at a show which influences perception too much). Any shows stand out thus far?

Thanks in advance.

I've found the 23rd to be interesting. I"ve got to listen a bit deeper. The She Said is great, but there are many super versions of that, including the Norva show that opens with a Richie Havens tribute.

The She Said on the 23rd does not feature Scofield.

The All Along the Watchtower is a deliberate, slower version. It was the encore and the band was probably trying to let the crowd down, although it clocks in around 14 minutes.

I'm still listening Blooby. I've got the 26th burned and ready for tomorrow.

I have 3 of the shows so far. The first two nights and the Indy show which I was at. I have enjoyed all of them. It has been an interesting tour. I have enjoyed it.

I have been swamped lately (and will be the for the foreseeable future), so I really appreciate the feedback. What I need is a solo road trip where I can just immerse myself in music for a couple days. Oh, if only...

I will say this, right now Branford Marsalis is on stage with Scofield and the Mule in Durham so that Mule track will be downloaded!

The setlist is amazing.

I'm listening to 2/27 show on mule army's stream-awesome music...the crowd should STFU!

I'll listen to the Chicago show tomorrow. I really like the "Belly Up" show. The change in style from "Forsaken Savior" into "Jeep on 35" is really cool.

From what I've heard so far I gotta give props to Danny and Jorgan. They are swinging on those Scofield tunes. But even more than those two, Matt is tearing it up. Complete changes in style.

Gov't Mule is an amazing collection of musicians.

Danny seemed to really be into the jazzier numbers - but I kept listening to Jorgan - he is a monster - much more evident on the Muletracks than live at the Riv........... Grin

So you are listening to the actual MuleTrack?

I've been listening to audience recordings. I think this tour is going to cost plenty, because to date, I've not heard a show I don't want a pristine recording of.

And the BTtree recordings are darn good.

I just downloaded the Muletracks show from the 3rd with Branford. Couldn't resist. Might take a few days but I'll put up some thoughts here in this thread. I can tell you I dropped the needle (so to speak) on Branford's solo in "Dreams," and I'm smiling.

Once again, thanks for all the input.

I was standing at the bar on the lower level for the show and having been there in person, I can say you are totally correct. Even as loud as Mule plays, people were annoying the sh!t out of me. And they kept pushing and pushing to the point where it almost got claustrophobic.

Still a great show!

I am listening to the Durham show I downloaded from MuleTracks today. It is spectacular.

I highly recommend buying this show.
