March 2nd was Rory's birthday. First introduced to Rory by a college roommate, he had every lp Rory made. Then on this site Mr. TanDan sent me some really great shows.

Rory On!

Just came back from Dublin where there is a replica of Rorys Strat on the wall of Rory Gallagher Corner, in the Temple Bar district of Dublin. Paid a visit to to site on his Birthday and raised a glass of the Black Stuff to him in a local pub later that day.
This isn't the picture I took, a couple of strings on the strat had broken when I was there.

I love Rory. I've been working on some Rory gaps in my vinyl collection. I've picked up early US pressings of both Taste studio albums this year.

peach-head, that's really cool that you were able to visit Dublin.

Hi aekdbmoid, we hadn't actually planned it that way, it was just the only available week I could get off work the same time as my wife, and as we both work for the same company its hard getting the same weeks off. It was a nice surprise when I realised we were gonna be there on his birthday though.

Hello Peach-Head,

Okay, this is kinda off-topic but did you also spot that beautiful Phil Lynott statue while in Dublin?

On Rory's birthday (march the 2nd) RTE, The Irish national television broadcasting company, released a very rare 1983 interview with Rory Gallagher from their vaults. Never re-broadcasted again after the original 1983 broadcast. This 9 minute hotel room interview and brilliant accoustic performance is confirmation of everything fans appreciate so much about Rory: humble, passionate, his integrity and being extremely gifted. Every time i see Rory stuff i never seen before i get goosebumps and/or get choked up. This interview being no exception. 21 years after his death Rory and his music still have this impact on me.

Enjoy:

Yes we did. I took a couple of photos and my wife took one of me and Phil.
