As for RS being cutting edge journalism, I think that is a major stretch but have at it if you like. Also you can't expect the demographic on this site to love RS as it is not who the magazine is aiming at attracting so there is not much for them.

I've realized this for years, they are trying to sell to a younger audience. They are in the business of selling magazines, and we are an old and steadily declining slice of the population. But despite those facts, there have always been timely and interesting stories if you look for them. There's always a tribute to any important musician who dies, like Jack Bruce recently. I'd read it for that if nothing else. And there is always some important political and/or sociological perspective in EVERY issue. If you think that is a "major stretch", then why don't you show me what other magazine is also covering music but at the same time, rape on college campuses and shady under-the-table Wall Street shenanigans?

Yet many here see Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber on the cover and say, "What a bunch of crap". That's quite shallow.

Playboy will give you all of that plus beautiful women. 😉

Out of the thousands of magazines available, RS is not considered to be an investigative reporting mag. Besides it all depends on who wrote it as most stories are sold so could end up in a number of mags. Do they have some great stories - yes. But so do pretty much all magazines, it would be an insult to thousands of writers to claim otherwise.

We all like different things. Do you have shares? 😉

Somehow I got a free subscription for 2 years. It expired recently and I didn't subscribe. I think they offered it for $10 per year. This all means the magazine is in real bad shape and hanging on by a thread. It will be digital-only very soon. I blame both the decline in content and advent of Internet and smartphones.

Oh really? All of WHAT? Larzv complained about the length of RS' coverage of the final Beacon run. If Playboy mentioned it at ALL, can you please post the link in this thread?

I don't know if they did but I guarantee that they uncovered all sorts of things.

I don't require a magazine review of anything including the ABB. People here posted reviews, pictures and video which I will enjoy far more than the RS article whether it is 1 page or 5. There will be nothing new to anyone on here. Plus I will take the opinions of those here over a review in a magazine.

You like the magazine and enjoy seeing a band you like in it. That's cool. Don't think anyone has implied otherwise.

Got RS for years but passed on it long ago. Far too much back scratching between certain labels and the magazine musically for my tastes. Nice long articles but often on artists that held little interest for me.

So Rolling Stone is up to it's old tricks once again - putting a bunch of elderly musicians
on the cover.....and Canadians(!), too. I'm talking about Rush. What a waste of paper.
Was Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande not available?! (LOL). Correct me if I'm wrong, but
is this not the first Canadian BAND on the cover of Rolling Stone since THE BAND back
in the late sixties? Or am I forgetting the Sheepdogs? Rush and Grateful Dead cover
features in the last month - ridiculous. Hey, I'm loving it.....

Kim is on the cover in the issue right after Rush was on.....sigh. Would you figure her issue sold more?

I don't blame RS though as they are printing articles about music that is selling today.

I subscribe many for the non music articles and when I get an article about pre 2000 bands it is a bonus.

For classic rock bands I read, coincidently enough, Classic Rock Magazine from Great Britain
