So a friend of mine searches around for things to sell on eBay. Her best find was an original poster for a Dead show at Duke that resulted in a bidding war between a couple of grads who'd attended the show.

there were only 100 copies pressed on this label, a "Dime Store" pressing done for, I think, S.H. Kress. I'll bet there are only a handful of these things in existence.
Anyway, the listing is interesting to see, the article is interesting if you like that sort of thing, and my friend -- quite possibly the person I've stayed friends longest with in my life -- has had a tough go of it lately and deserves a home run. I hope she gets one with this.
It would be cool to find something like this, but to pay $760 (current bid) for it. Not so much.

The Dead poster? No idea when the show was. 70's I'd guess. She had to convince her partner to let her pay $150 for it, she sold it for, I think, around $8800.

I was fortunate enough to meet the apparently last link to Robert Johnson, David "Honeyboy" Edwards three years ago. I asked him about his connection to Crossroads and the whole story, whatever one may have heard.
He downplayed it all and said he had nothing to do with it. But he was hard to understand and wasn't really coherent. He passed away two months later. He was a perfect gentleman.

Charles, it's a great return on investment, but she and her partner have spent countless thousands of hours over the years, doing tis sort of thing full-time, scraping by on selling things they bought for $3 for $7 and the like. Anyone who spends all their time scouring the trash for diamonds will eventually find a few. She's a smart cookie too.
Makes one wonder what Neil Youngs first 45 (The Sultan) would sell for now if this in 2008 was what happened in 2006
