Saw SRV just the one time; better late than never. He had an electric personna and was quite the showman on top of being a great player.

You are truly missed Mr. Vaughn....

I saw him at the Greek Theatre in LA, Bonnie Raitt opened. I still remember where I was the day I heard of his passing. Most of todays performers would do well to study SRV"s live act, Stevie has SO much soul. What a huge loss for anyone who thinks about handling a guitar.

The iTunes station I'm listening to is spinning "I Ain't Gonna Give Up On Love". Vintage SRV. Makes me think of living in Sierra Madre, an ex GF, and croquet games on my friend's front yard. Good times!

Well, if You been around here for awhile, You may know my story about SRV, may 10, 1987, only 23 yrs old, I had the good fortune to hang out With Stevie and his band and crew and help them set up and tear down, I can't describe what a fine human being this guy was! All I had been tought by my parents about how to conduct Yourself and treat others, was confirmed by hanging with this guy, he treated Everyone he came in contact with as Friend and Family. He arrived that warm spring day about 9am and casually hung out all day, there was softball and a cookout and great times had by all, Stevie had a sore throat, he was forced to play only insrumentally the prior show and was frustrated about his voice mainly using an erasure board, and he just punished his guitars for it that night. I will never forget that day........Peace to All.........joe

That is a great story Joe.

My SRV story is much different. Easter Sunday of 1990 I had tickets to see Clapton outside of Detroit. I had to leave my mom's Easter dinner to catch the show. My mom and grandparents were upset that I was leaving. I went by myself because the girl I was seeing bailed on me.

So I went alone (I still have an unused ticket). At the time, Clapton didn't have an opener, he had a guest sit in. And since this was obviously before the internet, nobody knew who the guest was.

Well, it was SRV. He came out and they did a few Cream songs. White Room was off the map.

I remember when I came home the day after the accident. I was so sad but also glad that I was able to see him. Even at a young age I could appreciate his amazing talent.

Only saw him once, opening for The Who in the Astrodome.

He was so much better than they were.

So sad that after beating his addictions and having his whole life ahead of him, pilot error took him away from us.

I was kneeling on the floor 10ft directly in front of Stevie the whole show, left a lasting impression to say the least, I swear I saw the sound lifting Stevie off the ground at one point, also the only time I got to see him. 1600 people in an old gymnasium 3 blocks from my house. Ricky Medlocke and one of the newer Blackfoot bands opened.
