Three Dog Night star Jimmy Greenspoon has died five months after asking fans to help fund his medical expenses for a battle with metastatic melanoma.The keyboard player lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday (11Mar15).
Greenspoon mentioned Gregg Alllman in his autobiography -- citing that he would see Gregg daily, or more often, as they had the same drug dealer and were on the same buy schedule.
Sad to hear.
Three Dog Night was a very richly talented band - even if a very commercial one. Some folks wonder why the Allman Brother's Band needed two drummers - I always wondered why Three Dog Night needed three frontmen. Jimmy was a great player. I loved their take on "Chest Fever".
I remember reading somewhere that Three Dog Night nicked the Hour Glass' arrangement of "Try A Little Tenderness" almost note-for-note after seeing them perform at one of LA's clubs. I always liked Three Dog Night. I remember trading my first spit with a comely lass from Greensboro while listening to Golden Biscuits on 8 track.
