RIP Jack Bruce

It is with great sadness that we, Jack’s family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad, and all round legend. The world of music will be a poorer place without him, but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts.

This one really hurts....:(
RIP Jack

Tragic news. What can you say, a TRUE LEGEND. R.I.P.

Hey folks. I found this out from another music site that I frequent, and as it is one his website, assumed that it is true.
But I see nothing on the Web as yet, except that someone posted an RIP on Facebook a couple days ago and that was later announced to be a hoax.
I'm very sorry if I have jumped the gun and am now hoping that this is wrong and possibly his website was hacked.
Pretty disgusting if it IS a hack ....
Previous story about hoax here...

Jack Bruce was one of those most credibly cited as "the best bassist in rock and roll". Since my teens, I have kept such subjective lists and Jack was always in my personal top 5.
The term "rock and roll" does not serve Jack's style justice. Like drummer, Ginger Baker - Jack's sources and inspiration were deep into jazz. With Eric Clapton, they gave fans of 1960's "rock and roll" a lot more than they realized they were getting.
(The) Cream were often cited and (dis)credited as "the first heavy metal band" - to which Ginger would often reply, "well, it should've been an abortion ...". Their style and form so far surpassed and outshone what any "rock" band was doing at the time and since. Jack's bass anchored the band. None of that pocket stuff - alongside Clapton, his bass was a co-lead instrument.
There is no wonder that no less than Duane Allman found personal inspiration in (the) Cream's playing.
Another legend gone. Jack Bruce will certainly be missed.

If this is a hoax, forgive my early eulogy. I will offer these same or similar words when the time comes. Jack is (was?) the greatest!
Stupid internet!

Sad, sad day. The world of music loses another giant. God rest Jack Bruce.

Thanks for the heads up, Andrew. Baker, Bruce & Clapton. The main reason I love a trio more than anything still to this day.
This ones for Jack. TURN IT UP! 😛

Jack Bruce was bass playing badass. His work with Cream was fantastic, but I always loved West, Bruce and Laing as well....lest we forget;

🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

Playing "Wheels of Fire" now. Got "Why Don'cha" cued up next.

Listen for that killer bass run BillyBlastoff during the bridge part of The Doctor -- from the Why Dontcha album
was really glad to see Jack in 89 in Boston, & Ginger sat in on the second set -- a big thrill -- obviously there's the live Crossroads but all his playing was so melodic & thunderous -- kinda a cross between BO & the Ox
RIP, Mr. Jack Bruce

As much as I hate to admit it, it's true:
I'm old enough (59) to remember, and Cream was hands down my favorite band in the 60's. Hendrix wasn't the only one who took rock 'n' roll to new adventurous places.

🙁 🙁 🙁
R.I.P., Jack and thanks for all the music.

Time marches on R.I.P. Jack

Can definitely hear some of Entwistle in this song. Thanks for the heads up Stephen.

One of the all time greats from one of my favorite bands of all time. Sad.

Sad to hear.
RIP.

RIP Jack
ABB tribute tonight? I'd love to hear Badge

One of the great ones! I remember seeing Jack Bruce and Friends open for the Brothers on January 31st 1981 at Nassau Coliseum. It was night I'll never forget.

RIP Jack 🙁
Cream along with the ABB and the Grateful Dead are the bands that got me into "jam bands".

More love for Jack....don't forget the jams he recorded with Robin Trower and Bill Lordan - BLT!

I just got the news. 🙁 🙁 🙁 RIP Jack Bruce

Not to start a peeing contest - or to disrespect the Ox, but I believe Jack Bruce probably inspired Entwistle. I think Bruce's bass playing compared to Entwistle's is a little like Ginger Baker's drumming compared to Keith Moon's.

wow blown away by this news. check out jacks new solo album. glad he went out with a bang

R.I.P. another great loss..

Indeed, another great loss. Last time i saw him live was with his collaboration with Robin Trower (Seven Moons).
Fantastic concert but he looked very fragile back then. Surely one of the most influencial bass players ever.
RIP Jack.
