Farewell to Gerry Marsden - Gerry of Gerry and the Pacemakers.  They were probably the closest thing to the Beatles that existed in their shared hometown of Liverpool.  "Ferry Cross the Mersey", "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Cryin'" (a Pul McCartney soundcheck staple), and "You'll Never Walk Alone" (adopted by the Liverpool soccer - FOOTBALL team) - among their hits.  I dug 'em.

Yes I remember them too. Just a few singles but that managed to have hits with them when the Beatles had 2 or 3 records in the top 10 at the same time. RIP

The movie Ferry Cross the Mersey is actually pretty good for that era.  I’m so old I saw it in the theater when it was released and I would like to see it again.

I remember them.  It's amazing how a few groups from the UK, each with different sounds opened the door for so many British musicians.  I hope he rests in peace.
