Hard to believe it is 25 years since we lost Allen.

Miss that heavy bottom end.

RIP Allen Woody

The original Govt Mule was one of the best bands I ever saw live. RIP big guy.

Allen Woody brought the thunder. Loved the original Gov't Mule and loved Allen with the ABB & Blue Floyd too.

25 years. Wow. I remember I was at an Allman Brothers Band show in Tinley Park, IL the day Allen died, and the band dedicated the show to him

I saw them in Madison the night prior, the next night Susan played night 2 of the same festival and announced Woody's passing to the crowd (most of whom didn't know who he was). She tore into "It Hurts So Bad" which is one of the most emotionally charged performances I've ever witnessed, thought Susan was going to tear a vocal chordc

I had the opportunity to chat with Allen Woody twice. Once at an ABB show and once at a Gov't Mule show.

At the Gov't Mule show the Allman Brothers Band 2nd Set album was coming out and Allen talked a little about how much he liked his solo on the acoustic version of Elizabeth Reed. I had already heard it for I ordered the 1994:special release of the ABB's acoustic show performed in Los Angeles.

NEWSBREAK!!!!!

I read last night that drummer Matt Apts will sit out the upcoming Gov't Mule tour. No mention of who the new drummer will be.

Matt said he is hurting from years of little injuries of playing behind his kit.

Apts said he met Warren Haynes when   joined Dickey's band in 1987 and Matt met Dickey in 1984 when he replaced Butch Trucks in the Betts, Hall, Leavell, Trucks band.

When it became clear that band wasn't being signed by any record label, Butch quit. And they dropped the Trucks named and it became Betts, Hall and Leavell and did not add Matt's name.
