Rich Robinson @The City Winery, NYC 5/30/15

Rich Robinson is one my favorite guitarists and writers of all time. I've enjoyed his work for just about 3 decades now. He's got an intimate solo acoustic tour in progress at the moment. In an ever increasing era to find a sound that gives a musical independence, Mr Robinson does that. His guitar offerings relinquish a soft sweetness and degree of depth. There's a refreshing uniqueness to his music. He has displayed a grit electrically that grabs you and throws you up against the wall 'til you boogie yourself off of it, but this subtle one man band tour shows more of the man himself. He has graced my life in a parallel world kind of thing, our lives intersecting at times sharing a room with his music on occasion since '92 Beacon. I love man and his body of work, If you're not familiar with the man and his music this might be a great place to get yourself acquainted. Listen to the respect he was given in the form of silence and attention while he performed, I'm talking a Saturday Night City crowd! Beautiful Night. Here's some pic's and video from the show along with his Tour Dates and Official pages.

Hey Fear
It wasn't all acoustic, Here he plays a version of Bert Jansch's Blackwater Side. A riff commonly attributed to Jimmy Page's Black Mountain Side. Nice!

Enjoy this Gent!

thanks for the heads up

He's a good man, Here's fun one from the Rich Robinson Band at the City Winery from last years album release party for The Ceaseless Sight with special guests Tosh (London Souls), Jackie Greene (Multiple credits), Amy Helm, Kirk Douglas (The Roots), Joe Magistro, Marco Benevento, Dan, & others from the album (full credits there).

Love Rich Robinson, but hate his brother for turning out to be a phony. I miss the Black Crowes ... bad. I hope Rich is able to successfully continue in rock and roll. Loved the Ceaseless Sight Band. Also the record was way better than Phosphoresent Harvest.

yea, Ceaseless Sight is a great album
missed the show in Boston, d/l the torrent from the Hartford show the next night (on bt).
Now i really wish I made that Boston show.
next time...
I love the part when he said "I'd rather hear you guys yelling boo, you suck, then hear you talking on the phone. At least you'd be listening. If you don't want to be here, then don't be here"

This is one I like that sums up the uniqueness comment.

Thanks for the heads up on Rich. He is one of my fav's. I really like his sense of melody in his music along with his phrasing in his guitar playing. Very emotive to me. About 10yrs ago or so when Live At The Knitting Factory came out, I was sold on him being a solo artist. I always liked his stuff with the Crowes, but anymore I would prefer to hear him by himself. From what Chris kinda pulled this past year with the BC, I doubt there will be any sort of reunion any time soon. Fine with me. Rich's solo work fits the bill with me.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Saw Rich Thursday night at the Shalin Lu center, Rockport (great venue).
Really enjoyed the show.
