It's been 51 years since the tragedy. Will be eternally grateful for the musical gifts that he gave us and for having the foresight to bring together the original lineup of the group that bears his name. The soundtrack of my most important musical experiences.

Rest in Peace Skydog.

Yes Duane Allman was the most exciting guitarist I ever saw and I saw Hendrix, Clapton and another favorite Dickey Betts. My age (early 20's) and a righteous toke may have made me think it was more spiritual than it really was...but this, to me, is the hottest guitar solo on any ABB album. The slide playing is another bag from this.

Duane slide guitar. This track recorded live has so much in it. It was some years later I finally noticed what the drummers we're doing with the cymbals and the best. Dickey's solo is excellent too. Everyone is kicking it.

There are a gazillion great guitar players in the world.  There have been a small handful that just broke the conventional mold and changed how music got played forever after.  I believe that Duane is in this club.  Beyond that, Duane Allman was one of the major forces in my own life - and I don't mean just music and guitar playing.  Our late, great friend Randy Stephens (Buppalo1) probably brought this to my awareness more than anybody.  A huge percentage of the people I've know in my life were Duane-ists.  Can I get a witness?

Great picks Robertdee. Who'd have thought when we heard those songs way back when, astounding as they seemed then, that there would never be anything to come in the world to ever match such music. Didn't get a peach pie again this year either.

Yes indeed. Here is a player who got into the Allman Brothers in 2007 when he saw the band live but eventually discovered Duane and he just took off.
