Hey everyone:)

I haven't posted much on this site in recent months, but I just wanted to jump on and say that I caught two pretty good shows over the last two weeks....not something I usually can do this time of year.

1) Dave Rawlings Machine w/G. Welch and W. Watson was just wonderful. If you love that dark, folky, five piece string band..then this was just sublime. Willie did a couple from his solo release, and Gillian did a couple from her catalog. And they hit the dave's biggies as well as some tasty covers. A really great, tight show in an intimate venue in downtown Buffalo.

2) Dead and Co. exceeded my expations Wednesday night. Bob sounded pretty good. The show was on the bluesy side and I was very pleasantly surprised by John Mayer. I don't know his work, but thought he really jammed on the tunes. The sound was good after the first couple of songs. Hit a good mix of sing-alongs and extended jams. But like, I said...a bit bluesier...which I think fits the personnel and voices. Oteil is great, of course. They played some nice arrangements and it all sounded pretty good. Althea was a favorite for me.

Anybody in WNY get out to these shows??

I was at the Dead+co. show and enjoyed it,Bluesy yes.I thought they sounded great and JM did very well.
I was kinda disappointed during the second set,a little bit of a snoozer from Dark Star--China Doll,It seemed as if they lost people for a bit.
Overall thought it was a fun show.

I run the Buffalo scene on a regular basis ~ big stuff rolling through & lotsa local offerings, especially on the deadhead scene! Did catch dead & company of course ~ it was ace! my faves of the night were Viola Lee & New Speedway Boogie!!

DSO was at the ballroom Friday & that show was mind blowing ~ setlist & sound ~ tight & loose!

I didn't go to the Dave Rawlings gig but caught Jack & Jorma at that venue at the end of September ~ beautiful show & my first time at babeville ~ it was very serene

My Army veteran daughter Amy went with her friend to Buffalo for Dead & Co. and had a grate time.

I surprised her at work today with copies of the show for both of them.

Taper was well known friend of a friend who also helps out with the gear from time to time.

For Christmas I'm giving her a ticket to Rusted Root (her favorite) with the Devon Allman Band also in Buffalo.

If y'all remember, she met Devon when he played in Germany while she was stationed there.

(Dad pulled some strings) The Honeytribe guys gave her the VIP treatment.
