We need a swerve subject for a Friday. I have had a crush on Reba McEntire for a long time.

The woman is 60 for goodness sakes.

I hope this doesn't ruin your crush, but for years I thought she was a Dana Carey character.

so I'm sitting backstage at the civic center in Providence, I guess it was around 5 p.m., we just finished the stage and set up for Reba's show. ( I didn't know Reba at all) Put this yellow cab up on stage, a little one, apparently she had some song or album she was touring for and so I'm sitting there, waiting for sound check. Limo pulls in and this woman gets out, dressed to the nines and on her way to dressing room stops, looks down at me and says, "Well well well, hello there handsome, staying for the show?" I said, "I'm working the show". She said, "I bet you are". Smiled and walked away. I turned to a buddy and asked, "Who the hell was that?" "Reba McIntyre".

nice lady. I loved the southern accent. Grin

My Reba story isn't anywhere near as good as piacere's ...

Last year Donna and I were eating dinner here on the island at a place called Barbara Jeans. Seemed like everybody in the place was staring at us. ?! I looked about 18 inches to my right and saw Reba and two other ladies (one must've been a sister - looked a lot like Reba) sitting at the table right next to us. I'm not really a Reba fan or aficionado or anything, so it was no big deal. It was funny to watch a lot of the patrons make extra efforts to walk past her or get closer for a look. She seemed like a nice lady.

Cool stories about Reba.

Another swerve / speaking of "older" women that have aged extremely well:

Hmmm ... Reba probably got the worst treatment in Three Chords And The Truth, an old but must read on Nashville. Also her and Narvel are divorcing after 20+ marriage. Supporting the adage - somebody is tired of it somewhere. Perhaps it's the plastic surgery she talked him into. Now he can't close his eyes when he sleeps. Cool

She looks better today than 30 years ago. My wife and kids loved her TV show so we saw plenty. I will say that it was a rare show that families could watch together

It "appears" these may have been photoshopped, oh well.

Her music sucks.

Almost as bad as those Phish links. Have to skip past the vocals, then a piano solo that sounds like my son when he was 3 and hitting every key on the piano. Vocals unfortunately return. 12 minute clip that I skip past 9 minutes of. 😛

You Phish guys - I will never understand but enjoy yourselves.

Makeup artists, plastic surgery, photoshop, half starving by eating yucky food prepared by a personal chef, grueling and lengthy workout sessions with a personal trainer, and the money to pay for it all, can work wonders on aging bodies

If she can afford the wonders then why not? Don't know that she eats "yucky" food or just healthy food. I would hope that a personal chef can cook.

Just to be clear, when I used the word photo shopped, I was referring to the naked photos of Sharon Stone in the link above, not Reba.

I did not post the Sharon Stone photos, just the link, because, well, she is naked - and that is where the allegations of photo shop exist.

Is photo shop one word or two anyhow ?

All the pin-up gals, Playboy (and other mag's) centerfolds etc. have been airbrushed or Photoshop'd since the beginning. I still think Sharon Stone is an exceptional looking woman - for any age.

CanadianMule, you went to that much trouble skipping around...and missed the guitar solo in Reba? You know, the best part?

You can lead a horse to water.......

Those were the three minutes that I did listen to. 😛 Some would say that it is the only good part. 😉

Not much trouble though as I know well in advance that I can skip the singing on Phish songs. Then I realized that Page must have been dosed that night.

I would take a drink but that damn water is poison. 😉

I wouldn't say the guitar solo is the ONLY good part, but it is the best part. See, we can agree on something about Phish!

By the way, that's not a piano solo. It's a fully written out piece of music that, to me, is probably their most Zappa-esque composition.

It's all good, you and I have very well-documented differences in our musical tastes. Reba may be no Detroit Rock City, but I'll take it over the whole KISS catalog 😉

Or to flip the old Rolling Stones song around, it may not be rock and roll, but I like it! Smile

Likely far more bands that we both enjoy as opposed to those we don't. Phish is just one that we don't. I tried and musically I have had moments but I just can't stand the singing. Same with the Dead for me although musically I much prefer the Dead. But there is tons out there for you guys to enjoy and I couldn't be happier for you.

You can keep the KISS though. Never my thing either but I think Trey loved them. 😉
