Randy Bachman releasing new album with power trio

There's an article in guitar player with Randy and how he formed this new power trio with a female drummer (like Keith Moon) and his female bass player (like John Entwistle or Jack Bruce). This came following a conversation with Neil Young telling him to just go out & do something "completely different" & take chances! He also has guest solos on the album from Neil Young,Bonamasso,Frampton & others too.It sounds like it could be an interesting project. In the article he also discusses how he wrote 'Takin' Care of Business' on the spot onstage as a last song one night. (pretty talented guy) He also mentioned how when they were recording it they added a 'pizza delivery guy' who was dropping pizzas, to play the piano part in 1 take.

I saw him and the band last month. They were very tight.Bass player was really good. They did some BTO,some Guess Who, and some new stuff. They finished up with,as he called it,a Stevie Ray Vaughn inspired version of Taking Care Of Business. All in all,a very good show.
Didn't get a chance to buy the new CD,but TCLawrence(who I went to the show with)did.Maybe she'll give us a review.

It has been out for a while now. Not a bad album but not great either. Randy is a Canadian Icon but his vocals have been hurting for quite a while. It doesn't bother me live as he is aging so who cares but for the album...well. If that is the best takes that they could get then perhaps all guest vocalists might have been better. 😉
Lots of cool guests though.

it sounds like he did take chances! He did say in the interview they just recorded it Live in the studio too.

You really have to wonder why Warren and/or Derek didn't end up
on this disc......

i have the new album. sounds like typical bachman stuff. mastered way too loud though. stuff like that usually doesn't bother me but this thing hurt my ears

I like it but would prefer Turner's vocals.
